Getting to Tanzania

Most international flights land at JRO—Kilimanjaro International Airport. This airport is ideally located for those wishing to commence their safari with a trek up Mt. Kilimanjaro (affectionately refered to as Kili by locals). If you are not planning on visiting any of the parks in northern Tanzania, then Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) will most likely be your point of entry for Tanzania. Most domestic flights pass through here en route to Zanzibar or northern destinations.

There are presently no direct flights to Tanzania from North America. Most are routed via Europe or the Middle East. KLM, Turkish Airlines and Emirates.

Getting to Tanzania from within Africa

South African Airways offers daily flights from Johannesburg to Dar es Salaam.
