Getting to Democratic Republic of Congo

Kinshasa is the capital of DR Congo and is receives the bulk of international flights. However, Kinshasa is located in the western portion of DR Congo, far from Virunga and Garamba National Park. Given the poor infrastructure of DR Congo, flying into Kinshasa and then driving to a park will take considerable time and be very uncomfortable. However, there are flights from Kinshasa to Beni, which is located just outside of Virunga National Park. Garamba, however, is not serviced by commercial airlines, and driving from Beni to Garamba will take at least an entire day.
