Buffaloes are social animals that live in herds ranging from a few individuals to thousands, especially during the dry season when water and grazing resources are limited. These herds are typically led by an older female and include calves, sub-adults, and dominant males.

Elephants are herbivores, primarily feeding on grasses, leaves, bark, roots, and fruits. They are known to consume vast quantities of vegetation daily, using their trunk to grasp and manipulate food.

Leopards typically aim for the throat of their prey, using their strong jaws to deliver a precise bite that quickly incapacitates the animal. They may also use their front paws to wrestle down larger prey or deliver a final blow

Ambush: Once within striking distance, leopards ambush their prey with a sudden burst of speed. They have powerful hind limbs that allow them to leap distances of up to 6 meters (20 feet), enabling them to pounce on their target quickly and effectively.

Zebras are not only fascinating for their striking appearance but also for their social behaviors and adaptations to survive in the challenging environments of the African plains.

During the dry season or times of scarcity, antelopes must travel long distances to find water and suitable vegetation, which can make them vulnerable to predators. Their adaptability and various survival strategies make antelopes a vital part of ecosystems, supporting the food chain and biodiversity in their respective habitats.

Lionesses, the primary hunters in lion prides, play a crucial role in providing food for their young cubs. They typically hunt in groups, utilizing their stealth and teamwork to stalk and ambush prey such as zebras, wildebeests, and antelopes. Once a successful kill is made, the lionesses share the feast with their cubs, ensuring they receive the nourishment needed for growth and development. This communal feeding not only sustains the cubs but also strengthens the bonds within the pride as they gather around the carcass to eat together, reinforcing their social hierarchy and cooperative behaviors.

Wildebeests are herbivores with a diet primarily consisting of grasses, which they graze on in the vast savannahs where they roam. Their feeding behavior involves moving in large herds, constantly grazing on available grasses to sustain their energy and nutrition. During the dry season when grass is sparse, wildebeests may also browse on leaves and shoots from bushes and trees to supplement their diet. Their ability to efficiently convert grass into energy allows them to thrive in the often challenging environments of the African plains.

The "leopard tearmark" refers to a distinctive feature found on leopards. It is a black line that runs from the inner corner of each eye down to the mouth, resembling a tear streak. This marking is one of the defining characteristics that helps distinguish leopards from other big cats, such as cheetahs or lions, during wildlife observations and safaris.
