12 Days Northern Uganda Wildlife Safari

The Northern Uganda Safari is another interesting adventure that awaits you. You will visit women projects, community and two National Parks, Murchison Falls and Kidepo National Park. Enjoy the waterfall scenery, game drive and boat ride at Murchison falls National Park. At Kidepo you will have the chance to see ostriches in the wild and many more wild animals like the lions, cheetah, and buffaloes. Later on, visit the community Karamojong Manyattas and also participate in traditional dances.

Day 1: Welcome to Uganda

You will be picked by Rafiki Eco safaris guide at Entebbe. You will later travel to Kampala. Depending on

your arrival time you may visit the Uganda Wildlife Centre (Zoo) and Botanical gardens. Entebbe in the

local Luganda dialect means “seat” probably because it was an administrative base for the Baganda

Chief’s court and later the British colonial administrative capital in 1893.

It is a home to Entebbe International Airport, the main international airport of Uganda, which was first

opened in 1929.

Day 2: Visit Upendo Women Community

Travel to Lira Mid Northern Uganda to for your community tour. Arrive early afternoon. After lunch visit

Upendo Art and Crafts Centre. This is a women group that has come together to promote the Lango

culture through the making of crafts, storytelling and traditional dances. These ladies are mostly women

who lost their husbands during the Kony insurgency in Northern Uganda. The group facilitates

empowerment of the rural person through development of skills, talent and creativity to improve their

quality of life. The group was started in 2003. The art and crafts works produced are sold both on the

local and international markets.

Day 3: Lango Culture and historical sites visit

Today after breakfast visit Ngetta Hill the first Lango settlement. It is believed that the first Lango

forefathers settled here where the rock stands today. Later visit Aboke girls, a school ransacked by rebel

Kony, Barlonyo site and later the Lango cultural centre.

Day 4 to 5: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park

Travel to Masindi for a visit to Murchison falls National Park. Go for an early game drive on the northern

part of the park to catch up with the retiring predators and also see other animals like the Elephants,

giraffes, Lions In the afternoon enjoy a boat ride to the bottom of the falls Later on, hike up to the top of

the falls to see how wonderful it creates a rainbow as it forces its way through a narrow gorge making a

thunderous sound.

Day 6: Travel to Gulu

Today travel to Kidepo with a stopover in Gulu another northern Uganda town. This region was hard hit

by the LRA Kony insurgency but it is quickly recovered from the scars of war. Tour Gulu and also visit the

nearby community projects. Visit Wawoto Kacel Cooperative Society Ltd – which means “Walking

together” The cooperative facilitates the empowerment of the rural person through development of

skills, talent and creativity to improve their quality of life. The cooperative was created in 1997. The

women produce a wide range of products in the different categories of embroidery, tailoring, tie and

dye, weaving, beads and wishing cards. The art and crafts works produced are sold both on the local and

Day 7: Kidepo National Park

Today after breakfast travel to Kaabong the Home district of Kidepo National Park arrive early evening.

Check in at your hotel and later go for an evening game drive through the rolling grassland plain in Narus

valley a common evening spot for animals. The likely animal guest list may include the Elephants, herds

of Buffaloes, Jackals, and Jackson’s Hartebeest, Klipspringer and Lions plus many other mammals. Stay at

Day 8: Kidepo National Park

Today start the day with a game drive in Kidepo National Park. This has been described as the Hidden

Gem by CNN. It is home to 550 bird species and 77 different mammals that roam the savannas. You will

see a collection of ostriches, giraffes, buffaloes and sometimes cheetahs and Lions. Stay at

Day 9: Karamojong tribe Community

Today you will visit the Karamojong communities to have a real taste of this warrior tribe. Dance with the

community and visit their Manyattas (homes). Historically they were known as expert cattle rustlers but

they have since stopped that activity, thanks to government support and community stakeholders.

Kidepo Savannah Lodge

Day 10: Sipi Falls

Today after breakfast travel to Sipi, Eastern Uganda located at the foot hills of Mountain Elgon. These

spectacular falls are surrounded by village hiking trails and fertile slopes for Arabica coffee growing.

These falls are named after an indigenous plant 'sep' along the banks of the Sipi river.

Day 11: Sipi Falls, to Kampala City

Today after breakfast go for a hike around the falls. You will be mesmerized by the falls. A local guide will

accompany you along the villages, plantations and caves while explaining the traditions, flora and fauna

of the area. The hike is about 3 hours.

After you hiking experience, you will continue to Kampala City.

Day 12: End of tour, Entebbe

Today you travel back home with travel memories for family and friends. If your departure time is in the

evening, you will have a chance to visit some cultural and historical sites in Kampala.
