Itinerary

Arusha to Mariakamba Hut

Duration: 5-7 hours of hiking After breakfast in Arusha, you'll head to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. After registration, your hike begins. The first day features a scenic walking safari with wildlife spotting, led by an armed ranger. You'll pass the Ngarenanyuki River and a waterfall, arriving at Miriakamba Hut (2500m) for dinner and sunset views before resting.

Mariakamaba Hut

Mariakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

Duration: 3-5 hours of hiking After breakfast, begin your ascent along the steep trail atop the saddle ridge. Watch for wildlife as you hike, enjoying panoramic views of Mount Meru Crater and the Ash Tray. Once at camp, you can hike Little Mount Meru (3820m) with your guide for acclimatization. An early dinner will be served, and you'll aim to be asleep by 7:00 pm to prepare for your midnight summit attempt.

Saddle Hut

Saddle Hut to Summit to Arusha

Duration: 12-14 hours of hiking Wake up at 12:30 am for tea and biscuits before starting your summit attempt at 1:30 am. The trail ascends steeply from Rhino Point (3800m) to Cobra Point (4350m). In the final hour, navigate a rocky ridge to reach Meru's summit (4565m) at sunrise, with stunning views of Mount Meru Ash Tray and Kilimanjaro. After enjoying the scenery, descend to Momella Gate and return to Arusha.
