Day 1-4: Cape Town

The cosmopolitan city of Cape Town is a hub of activity all year round. In the shadows of the gorgeous Table Mountain, Cape Town incorporates the best of Africa’s nature with world class facilities. Some cities boast rich culture, vibrant nightlife, a cosmopolitan atmosphere and extraordinary architecture, while others boast breathtaking landscapes and extraordinary natural wonders. Cape Town is lucky enough to be blessed with all of these attractions and so much more.

With its bustling harbour, world-class beaches, top-notch vineyards, and its mountainous surroundings brimming with diverse flora and fauna, Cape Town consistently captivates the hearts of all who visit. Unique and visually pleasing, it is one of the most remarkable places you can visit in South Africa.

Day 4-6 : Franschhoek

Franschhoek is a small, idyllic countryside village near Cape Town, filled with glorious scenery and colonial architecture. Franschhoek is also known for its incredible vineyards where some of South Africa’s finest wines are made – the artisan routes, where you get to sample luxury cheeses, bread, wine and olives is a truly regal experience. The once sleepy little village was named Franschhoek, meaning “French Corner” as it was founded by the French Huguenots who fled Europe and were seeking a secluded hide-out. The Cape Dutch architecture comprises much of the village and remains remarkably well preserved. The town’s proximity to Cape Town allows for pleasant day trips during which visitors can explore the area’s many world-class wine estates and impressive range of excellent restaurants or simply browse the quaint, upmarket boutiques strewn along the town’s lovely tree-lined avenues.

Day 6-9 : Knysna

Nestled between the imposing Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean and surrounded by world-renowned forests, Knysna offers a wealth of activities for visitors. The beautiful lagoon and more than eight beaches provide opportunities to swim, surf, canoe, yacht, jet-ski, boat, fish, walk on soft sand and take ferry rides. Various markets offer organic goods, delicious food, indigenous plants and a social atmosphere. Mountains, valleys, lakes, forests and streams are ready to be explored. The region isn’t known as the “Garden of Eden” for nothing! A birding route is available for avid bird watchers. World class golf courses are at your doorstep. And of course the area is famous for the Knysna Heads and delicious oysters.

Day 9-10 : Tsitsikamma

Surrounded by lush greenery and forest, the Tsitsikamma National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks South Africa has to offer, and is often referred to as ‘the garden’ of the Garden Route. The national park forms part of a protected area of the Western and Eastern Cape as it has an array of breathtaking flora and fauna.

The park is not only a marvellous haven for indigenous flora and fauna but also for marine life. The Tsitsikamma National Park stretches about 80km along the coastline and a marine conservation belt forms part of the park, stretching five and a half kilometers out into the ocean. The park is filled with adventure activities as well as family orientated entertainment, and there is a big selection of lodges that will be sure to make your stay comfortable and memorable.

Day 10-11: Addo

From only eleven elephants in 1931, to well over 600 elephants today, the Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape has become a famous and much-loved area of South Africa. Covering approximately 180 000 hectares, it is the third largest national park in the country and home to the densest elephant population on earth. The park is very easy to access from Port Elizabeth as it is only 72 km away. Its location also makes it a convenient addition to a Garden Route holiday. The park is 750 km away from Cape Town however; roughly an 8 hour drive.

Day 11-14 : Amakhala Game Reserve

Amakhala Game Reserve is an ideal choice for your Big 5 Safari destination. This 7,500 ha reserve is renowned for its truly awesome topography, created by the slowly meandering Bushman’s River running through it. Guided by experienced rangers, you can return to nature and explore the diverse wildlife and the rugged landscapes of the Eastern Cape valley and bushveld on Amakhala Game Reserve.

Morning and evening game drives in open Land Rovers through Amakhala Game Reserve will leave you in awe of the diverse vegetation and spectacular scenery which abounds here. Not only do we offer the much sought after Big 5, but there are over 16 antelope species, zebra, giraffe and many small interesting species. Our elephant sightings are likely to the highlight of your stay. In addition to game drives, we also offer boat cruises and guided walks. For a change of pace, enjoy bird watching and game spotting whilst gently cruising down the Bushman’s River! Refreshment breaks have been included to make your safari experience that much more enjoyable. This bush experience will create memories, which will linger as long as the African sun sets.
