Arrival Thebe River Lodge

Your professional guide will meet you upon your arrival at Kasane Airport; we will then have an option of shopping in town, changing our currency before heading to the lodge where we are accommodated at. Lunch and dinner will be prepared depending on the time of arrival.
We will spend our night camping at Thebe River Safaris. The lodge and camp overlook the placid Chobe River and echo the surrounding bush with a rustic design. 12km from the Kazungula border and 5km from the Chobe National Park entrance, The Camp offers spacious camping areas shaded cooking/braai areas. Ablutions are shared and we have 2 large communal ablution blocks with showers with loads of piping hot water, basins, mirrors and toilets. After dinner we then have a discussion on out next day itinerary, on what to expect and what to bring on board.

Kasane to Victoria Falls

After our morning breakfast we depart to Victoria Falls. One of the greatest attractions in Africa and one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world, Victoria Falls is located on the Zambezi River, the fourth largest river in Africa, which is also defining the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. On arrival at the boarder gate we have to produce our visas then head to the falls. The noise of Victoria Falls can be heard from a distance of 40 kilometres, while the spray and mist from the falling water is rising to a height of over 400 meters and can be seen from a distance of 50 kilometres.
While in Vic falls we have a personal option of visiting the Devil s Pool. One of the most interesting entertainments in Victoria Falls is a natural pool mostly unknown to the majority of tourists. The pool with the width of about ten meters is located next to the cliff found near Livingstone Island. It is separated from the abyss only by a narrow bridge. No wonder that this place is called the Devil’s Pool. Furthermore as an optional task you can enjoy river cruises, admire rich local arts, crafts. Our meals for the day will be arranged. We then head back to the Kasane, Thebe river safaris for another night. Meals will be provided on this trip.

Kasane to Savuti

After our early morning breakfast we drive to Savuti. The Savuti is a region within the heart of the Chobe National Park. It is the remote home ground of Camp Savuti, positioned on the banks of the Savuti Channel and close to the famous Savuti Marsh. Because of the long distance we will have our packed lunch, water, drinks and snacks with us. The trip is about 5 to 6 hours’ long. As we will be driving we will see animals on the way like elephants, giraffes, buffalos and a variety of bird spices. Our camp will be set up by the time we arrive, so hot showers will be ready and waiting for us before we enjoy dinner. We will have a brief discussion of the following day s activities.

We wake up early in the morning for a drive in the Savuti area. The Savuti is one of the best regions in Africa to see the rare and endangered African wild dog. These canines live and hunt in packs and collectively, they are some of the most efficient hunters out there. Lions are abundant in the Savuti. Other frequently seen predators are hyena, cheetah, and leopard. The Savuti boasts a population of elephants.  One of Savuti's biggest claims to fame is the presence of an annual zebra migration between the Linyanti and the Savuti. Packed lunch and snacks will be carried with us so we can enjoy lunch in the bush before returning to camp in the evening for a shower and dinner. We will enjoy our night around the fire place while discussing the itinerary for the following day.

Savuti to Khwai

Departure time from Savuti is 8:30am after our morning breakfast. We pack our luggage in the trailer; packed lunch will be prepared by our chef as we head to Khwai. The Khwai Concession is an 1800km (180 000 hectare) area which is situated in the north eastern Okavango next to the Moremi Game Reserve. It was formed by the local Khwai villagers and is managed by the Khwai Development Trust. The area used to be a hunting concession, but is now actively managed as a conservation area. Upon arrival, we will have some quality time to relax before enjoying an introductory game drive in Khwai.

We wake up well in time and enjoy our breakfast; the chef camp hand will be left in the camping site to prepare our meals and tents. We drive in the Khwai Concession area which is a good area to see Roan and Sable Antelope which are relatively rare. You might see Kudu, Tsessebe, Wildebeest and Zebra. Huge herds of migrating Elephants enjoy the Mopane woodlands of the interior of the Khwai area. There are fairly stable populations of large predators such as Lion, Spotted Hyena and African Wild Dogs found here and if you are lucky, you may also spot Leopards. After the game drive we drive back to the camping site where we will find our lunch ready. We then enjoy our lunch under the shade of the tent or tree. We may see bird spices like Verreaux's Eagle Owl, Senegal Coucals and Long Toed Lapwings. After our lunch we rest in our tents, later in the evening we have an option of going for a game drive. Dinner will be prepared as well as hot for bathing.

Khwai to Okavango Delta (XAKANAXA)

Just after breakfast we pack our luggages’s and drive to Xakanaxa camp. On arrival the camp hand prepares the tents while the chef prepares our lunch. We then drive to the boat station where we will have to do our boat cruise for 3 hours.  We cruise to Gcadikwe Island, Chances that we see hippos, crocodiles and a variety of the delta s resident spices which are joined by intra African and Palae arcticmigrant’s and cuckoos. From the water we should expect to see cormorants, kingfishers, warblers, cisticolas, coucals and rails in the waterside vegetation. Drifting quietly under the overhanging branches of riverine trees to look for Pel's fishing owl and rufousbellied heron. The open floodplains are the places to spot the slaty egret, waders, storks and cranes; sandbars might throw up roosting wildfowl and a flock of African skimmers. After the cruise we drive back to the camping site where we will find our meals ready to be served. We enjoy and rest in the camp.

DAY 8 & 9
Xakanaxa to Kazikini & Shandereka Cultural Village

After our morning breakfast we collect our luggage and depart to Kazikini. Kazikini community campsite is on the way to Moremi South Gate and is approximately 62km from Maun and 26km from Moremi South Gate. On arrival our camp hand prepares the tents while the chef prepares our lunch. We will rest for some hours, and in the late afternoon visit Shandereka Cultural Village. This cultural village is opposite Kaziikini Campsite and it showcases the traditional village life of the Sankuyo community who are Bayei, Banajwa and Basubiya though the majority of the people fall under the Bayei Tribe. These people are excellent basket weavers and carvers. The Village provides nature walks, traditional dances, demonstrations on the traditional doctor, basket weaving, carving of wooden curios and the granaries where the grain is stored. Later we get back to the campsite and have our dinner around the fire place. After having our dinner we will do our night drive to explore the Kazikini area. Most of the animals’ moves from the Moremi Game Reserve to this area so doing a night drive give us an opportunity to see nature in action.

DAY 10

On this day we do not have much to do in the morning. We have our morning breakfast. Then drive to Maun where we have an option of having our laundry cleaned on arrival which is our own responsibility.
