Itinerary

Day 1: MARANGU GATE – MANDARA HUTS

Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Moshi and transfer to Marangu Gate, located on the southeastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro. After completing registration and park formalities, begin your trek through the beautiful tropical rainforest. The trail is surrounded by lush vegetation, with opportunities to see monkeys and various bird species. Continue hiking at a steady pace until you reach Mandara Huts, located at approximately 2,700 metres above sea level.

Day 2: MANDARA HUTS – HOROMBO HUTS

After breakfast, continue your trek through the upper rainforest before entering the moorland zone. The landscape gradually becomes more open, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountain slopes. You may see giant lobelias and other distinctive high-altitude vegetation. Continue toward Horombo Huts, situated at approximately 3,720 metres. Arrive in the afternoon, enjoy your evening meal and rest in preparation for the next stage of the climb.

Day 3: HOROMBO HUTS – KIBO HUTS

After breakfast, begin your ascent toward Kibo Hut, located at approximately 4,703 metres. The trail crosses the wide Saddle, a high-altitude desert area between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. As you gain altitude, the vegetation becomes increasingly sparse. Walk slowly and steadily while conserving your energy for the summit attempt. Arrive at Kibo Hut in the afternoon, have an early dinner and rest. You will wake around midnight for the summit attempt.

DAY 4: KIBO HUTS – UHURU PEAK – HOR

Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. Wake around midnight and begin your ascent toward Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres. The trail climbs steeply through scree toward Gilman's Point (5,681 m) on the crater rim. Continue along the crater rim toward Stella Point (5,756 m) before making the final ascent to Uhuru Peak. Reach the summit and celebrate your achievement at the Roof of Africa. Take photographs and enjoy the incredible views before beginning your descent.

DAY 5: HOROMBO HUTS – MARANGU GATE

Kilimanjaro

After breakfast, begin your final descent toward Marangu Gate. Walk through the beautiful moorland and rainforest, enjoying the changing scenery as you descend. Upon reaching Marangu Gate, complete the park exit procedures and collect your Kilimanjaro summit certificate. Meet your vehicle and transfer back to Moshi, where your 5-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing Tour via Marangu Route comes to an end.
