Wildest Africa

Track man's closest living relative, chimpanzees, in one of their last remaining strongholds on Earth. Visit the world's longest, second deepest lake, & enjoy 3 full-day game drives in Katavi National Park.

Safari tour package: A custom, tailor-made, private safari

Length of safari: 12 days

Countries visited: Tanzania Tanzania
Parks visited: Katavi, Mahale Mountains

Safari type:
* Unbelievable pricing for this exploration of some of the wildest, most isolated, and least visited national parks in the world! * Two game drives in Katavi National Park: "how Earth must have looked in the beginning, before the arrival of humans"! * On to Lake Tanganyika, the world's longest, second-deepest, and least-polluted fresh water lake! * The great adventure: a 3-hour boat ride (in good weather!) to Mahale Mountains Nat'l Park! * Track man's closest living relative, chimpanzees, in one of their last remaining strongholds on Earth! * And then BACK to Katavi National Park for yet another full-day game drive! "It is during the dry season (August to October), when the floodwaters retreat, that Katavi truly comes into its own. The Katuma River, reduced to a shallow, muddy trickle, forms the only source of drinking water for miles around, and the flanking floodplains support game concentrations that defy belief. An estimated 4,000 elephants might converge on the area, together with several herds of 1,000-plus buffalo, while an abundance of giraffe, zebra, impala and reedbuck provide easy pickings for the numerous lion prides and spotted hyena clans whose territories converge on the floodplains."
