Itinerary

Day 1

Lake Nakuru | Nairobi

Day 1: Nairobi/Lake Naivasha-Lake Nakuru On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International airport you will go through the immigration formalities then you will be met by our representative who will introduce you to your driver/guide and cook cum Mountain guide then you will depart from Nairobi for lake Naivasha where you will arrive in time for an hour’s boat ride where you will have a chance of seeing hippo and different species of birds then continue with your safari to Lake Nakuru National park arriving in time for lunch at WCK Guest house, followed by game drive in search of Rhino, waterbuck, buffalo, giraffe not forgetting a chance to explore the shores of Lake Nakuru before you return to WCK Guest house/budget hotel for dinner and overnight

Day 2

Lake Nakuru

Day 2: Lake Nakuru/Mt. Elgon After an early breakfast leave Nakuru for Mout Elgon where you will arrive for lunch at budget camp then  you will spend the afternoon exploring Kitum and Mackingeny caves that are favourite gathering places for the elephants. At night the elephants venture up the narrow path and go deep into the caves to scratch off the salt-rich deposits with their tusks hence nicknamed the "underground elephants". Kitum is a local Sabaot  community language meaning "Place of Ceremonies" and it extends for about 200m (656 ft) into Mount Elgon. Return for dinner and overnight at the budget camp.

Day 3

Day 3:  Mt. Elgon National Park. After early breakfast with picnic lunch, depart for mountain climbing. We drive up to the road head before we begin trekking for 4,155 meters above sea the level, lunch at Elephant platform with Mt. Elgon Koitaboss peak providing a beautiful backdrop. Climbing can be accomplished in two to three hours depending on one's pace. The park is also home to at least 240 different species of birds, including the cinnamon-chested bee-eater, Hartlaub's turaco and redheaded parrot. A leisurely walk back to the budget camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4

Day 4: Mt. Elgon/Nandi-Kisumu After breakfast depart with picnic lunch depart for Nandi rocks via the ‘crying stone’ learn the local legend of this natural phenomenon. This big rock which is considered sacred to the locals, is said to be "crying" because it 'produces’ water on a few special days of the year. The locals believe the stone to be a blessing to them, as it is said to be able to cure many diseases. It is the most prominent rock formation along the whole length of the Nandi/ (Nyando) Escarpment. It is of great cultural significance to both the Nandi and Luo and is a boundary mark between the tribes. On the plains immediately below is one of the locations where barter trade took place between the two. You will commence your walk across a sugar cane plantation and ascend up to the top of the Nandi rock that offers magnificent views across the sugar plantations of the Nyando plains, scenic views across the Nandi Hills, Lake Victoria and Kisumu. You will have your lunch at the top cliff before you descend and proceed to Kisumu for dinner and overnight at Guest house/budget hotel.

Day 5

Day 5: Kisumu-Lake Victoria/Maasai mara Early morning with packed breakfast proceed for a boat ride on Lake Victoria for the magnificent sunrise and a chance of seeing some of the wading birds and interact with the local fishermen in their day to day activities then depart for maasai mara with lunch en route. You will arrive in time for game drive en route to budget camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6

Masai Mara

Day 6: Masai Mara Game Reserve Optional hot air balloon ride. Full day game viewing in search of black manned lion, elephant, leopard and cheetah, buffalo and other plains game with a visit to the mara river where you will have a chance of seeing hippo and crocodile. All meals will be served and overnight at budget camp 

Day 7

Nairobi

Day 7: Maasai Mara/ Nairobi Early morning breakfast then proceed for game drive followed by early lunch before you leave maasai mara with an optional visit to maasai cultural village en route as you depart for Narok and continue with your journey with a stopover at the Great Rift Valley to admire the Scenic beauty of the Escarpments. You will proceed to Nairobi where you will arrive in time to be dropped off at the airport to catch your home bound flight.
