Mount Kenya Climb and Chimps

Amboseli | Kilimanjaro

Day 2: Amboseli You will spend the whole day exploring Amboseli National park mainly with more chance of seeing wild animals and Kilimanjaro if you missed on the previous day and a chance to walk to the lookout hill with all meals served and overnight at budget camp

Day 4: Lake Naivasha-Hell’s gate & Elsamere conservancy After breakfast depart for Hell’s gate park where you will have a chance to either cycle or to walk among giraffe, Zebra, gazelles and different species of birds followed by a guided walk through the gorge before you return to budget camp for lunch and later proceed to Elsamere Conservancy which is the former home of the late Joy Adamson, arriving in time to visit the Museum which contains a small collection of Joy's paintings and artefacts. You will also have a chance of seeing the memorabilia from the film Born Free and a range of photos documenting Joy and George's work with wildlife. Return to budget camp for dinner and overnight

Masai Mara

Day 6: Masai Mara Game Reserve optional hot air balloon ride. Breakfast will be served then with picnic lunch depart for a full day game viewing in search of black manned lion, elephant, leopard and cheetah, buffalo among other plains game and a visit to the mara river where you will have a chance of seeing hippo and crocodile and if you are lucky you will have a chance to witness the famous wildebeest migration (July-September). Proceed to budget camp for dinner and overnight.

Lake Nakuru

Day 8: Lake Nakuru/Lake Baringo After an early breakfast proceed for game drive where you will have a chance of seeing rhino, giraffe, buffalo, zebra among other species not forgetting exploring the shores of Lake Nakuru and if you are lucky you might see flamingos. Return to guest house/budget hotel for lunch then depart for Lake Baringo where you will arrive for dinner and overnight at guest house/budget hotel.

Day 10: Lake Baringo/Subukia After breakfast depart from Lake Baringo via the spectacular Menengai volcanic crater, where you will make a stopover for the picturesque crater. Proceed to Subukia farm where you will arrive for lunch at budget camp followed by a guided bird-watching walk and a visit to the tea and coffee processing operations before you return to budget camp to wait for dinner and overnight.

Samburu

Day 12: Nanyuki/Samburu After breakfast proceed to Isiolo then an unforgettable journey into Samburu Game Reserve - a haven of beauty and peace in semi-arid land, rugged landscape and majestic surroundings where you will arrive for lunch at budget camp followed by game drive and later depart for game drive. Return to the budget camp for dinner and overnight.

Samburu

Day 14: Samburu/Nanyuki After breakfast leave Samburu for where you will arrive in time for lunch at budget camp and later you will prepare for the mountain climb. Dinner and overnight at budget camp.

Day 16: Old Moses/Shiptons camp (4200m) Traversing the Likii valley, climb and pass over a ridge to enter on a steep descent into the picturesque Mackinder,s . You arrive at Shiptons camp for hot lunch( or hot Lunch en route depending on your trekking pace.) after a 4 hour trek. Afternoon/ Evening at leisure.  

Mount Kenya

Day 18: To Lenana Summit, 4,985m & down to Lake Elis 3,600m. Trek via the Summit to Lake Elis, (approx. 15Kms / 10hrs.)   Ascent: 749m to the summit then descend -3600m to Lake Elis.  After the rest day comes the highlight of the Mount Kenya trek: the stiff, but exhilarating, scramble by starlight up to Point Lenana, the "trekkers' summit", in time to see the African dawn from a vantage point of nearly 5,000m. We leave at 4am and climb the 800m to the peak in 4 hours. A further 3 hours down to a late breakfast by Hall Tarns in the magnificent Gorges Valley. Then in the afternoon another 3 hours down past spectacular chasms, waterfalls and weirdly eroded lava flows. descend further down  to  Lake Elis one of the biggest lakes on the mountain. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing by the lakeside.

Nairobi
