About Wildland Safaris
Immersive, guided camping expeditions deep into the heart of Botswana by vehicle, boat and on foot. Each trip is meticulously planned, individually tailored and backed up by over a decade of experience. We are a small, family run and locally owned mobile safari company that can personalise your safari holiday to suit your budget, ideas and inspiration. Given the mobility of a camp on wheels (mobile safari), we can track seasonal game movements and help keep environmental impact minimal. We offer small group and family tented safaris, providing tailor-made itineraries that can be designed by you, with initial and direct contact with your guide!
About our safari vehicles
First off, most of our vehicles are custom built, in the WLS workshop. Care has been taken to make each vehicle’s functionality and practicality suitable for mobile safaris. We believe in OPEN safari vehicles. The design of our cars makes it possible for passengers to have unobstructed views of the landscape and the animals. You get to witness animal behaviour right in front of you, with the sounds and smells that go with it. There is no peering through small windows of enclosed safari vehicles! Don’t worry though, our vehicles close down pretty well with canvas side flaps if it is raining!

A trip to Botswana is a trip of a lifetime. The abundance of animals is like nothing you have ever seen before. We had 10 full days in the bush with Wildland Safaris and never a dull moment. From the first day, driving to camp under the darkening sky, to the last day spending hours searching for the migration, every new animal was as exciting as the first. James has a wealth of knowledge accumulated over years of experience that he is more that willing to share. Whether your interests be in the large game or the birds and bugs James is just as interested. As an avid photographer, he is very conscious of placement of the car in relation to the animals, allowing you to get the best shot you can before moving on. Our safari included a boat trip as well as two nights at a tented lodge. We moved between 4 reserves, spending an average of 2-3 nights at each new camp providing a range of different environments across the 10 days we were on safari.

Botswana was the trip of a lifetime, and Wildland safaris made it everything and more than we could have ever hoped for.

Wildland Safaris is the top mobile safari group in Africa, hands down. James Haskins and his group convey a level of professionalism and knowledge that is unparalleled. For my wife and me, the result was a 10-day experience unlike any other we have had in our lives. This was our first time with a private guide, and the advantages of having no other competing interests (i.e. other guests) were clear. We were able to appreciate James' level of expertise, which is prodigious, each and every day. Other guides pale in comparison. In fact, it becomes clear in the bush who all of the other safari guides looks to for help, advice and assistance; James Haskins. We will never go back to any other safari operator.

In my experience, as an animal lover and avid safari-goer that also included 1-2 stints in high-end lodges, the best way to experience real African wildlife in nature is a mobile safari. I cannot recommend Wildland Safaris and guide-owner James Haskins enough for providing one of the best services in the sector.

The safari packages include James as guide, a cook and 1-2 additional accompanying staff making for confortable and relaxing trips. The fact that Wildland Safaris is a family owned and run business makes all the difference. James is assisted from the home base by his wife Katia. They take meticulous care to provide the best experience possible on all aspects of the trip and, most importantly, thanks to James' enthusiasm, knowledge and tracking skills we have always been treated with phenomenal game viewing experiences.

We did 3 safaris with James Haskins, thanks to his professionalism and his passions for the fauna and the flora of his country we passed splendid moments. Thanks to his perfect knowledge of the places of Botswana that we could visit, we had the opportunity to admire all the animals and especially the predators. We have chosen for our 20 years of marriage to come back for a safari with him in 2018 and we are already looking forward.

My family and I visited Botswana in February with James and his team, and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Breathtaking encounters with wildlife and a wealth of knowledge make Wildland Safaris an exceptional way to see Southern Africa. The diversity in landscapes that we travelled across and remoteness of the campsites allowed us to truly experience wild Africa. I would highly recommend James and his crew if you want to experience Africa. We camped for 8 nights in Moremi, Khwai and Savuti followed by two nights at a spectacular bush lodge near the Makgadikgadi Pans. The campsites were so relaxing, the beds were comfortable beyond expectation and the food was always exceptional. They really catered to us, making us feel completely at home
