Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi

Day 1 You will be met upon arrival at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by our safari representative after clearing with customs and immigration. You will be transferred to your city hotel. The Boma Nairobi is a Luxury Deluxe property that promises to provide unparalleled World-class “Hospitality with a Conscience" and be the preferred hotel for the business and leisure traveler. The Boma Nairobi is fully owned by the Kenya Red Cross Society whose aim is to raise much needed funds for its humanitarian activities. Day 2

Amboseli | Kilimanjaro

Day 2 Breakfast will be served at the city hotel followed by a safari briefing on the adventures a head. After the briefing, your safari adventure will start immediately you board the safari vehicle, you will drive overland through Kamba land dotted with circular houses and few shopping centers as well as Maasai land to Amboseli National Park situated at the foot of the highest mountain in Africa as well as the highest free standing mountain in the world, the majestic snowcapped Mt. Kilimanjaro. Arrive at the camp in time for lunch followed by some leisure hours for a siesta/swim. Kibo Safari Camp is picturesquely set at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro which at 5,896 meters, is the highest freestanding mountain in the world and topped by one fifth of all the ice in Africa in the famous Amboseli National Park. This is a luxury tented camp situated within the Amboseli National Reserve. The Camp incorporates an open terraced restaurant and bar under acacia trees overlooking majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro and a beautiful swimming pool has been landscaped within. Kibo Safari Camp has 71 self contained spacious tents sheltered by ‘makuti’ roofs. Depart at around 16:00hrs for an afternoon game viewing and return back to the camp before sunset. The park has large herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, giraffes, lions and a variety of other animals and birds all of which are attracted to this park due to its permanent supply of water from Mt. Kilimanjaro’s melting snow. The elephant population in Amboseli is one of the few that has been able to live undisturbed and the elephant families have been studied by world renowned researcher Cynthia Moss. Dinner and overnight at the camp.  

Day 3

Amboseli | Kilimanjaro

Day 3 Early morning game viewing in Amboseli National Park will be the perfect time to catch a glimpse and photographing the highest peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro. It is also the home of the famed Maasai people, those tall, proud nomadic warriors whose legendary prowess in battle and single handed acts of bravery in fights with wild animals has spread across the world. Their diet is a simple one, consisting mainly of meat and milk and also the blood of cattle mixed with milk. A visit to their village reveals the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a memorable experience. The Maasai people live in close harmony with the environment and the animals that surround them. After the morning game drive return to the camp for breakfast and lunch. Have some rest and relaxation, sunbathing, swimming. Depart for your afternoon game viewing drive in search of the huge herds of elephants. Dinner and overnight at the camp.  

Day 4

Mount Kenya | Nairobi

Day 4 After breakfast at the lodge, you will depart by road via Nairobi viewing the beautiful surroundings as you pass through the vast pineapple plantations, across rivers, up and down the hills and the local community farmlands to Mount Kenya National Park. Sailing like an ark amid the primeval forests of Kenya's highest mountain, Mount Kenya, this timbered tree hotel offers champagne-clear mountain air, sweeping views across the tree-canopy, sparkling trout streams, and gentle forest walks. Located at 2,134 metres above sea level, on the lower slopes of the mountain, the lodge is cool, tranquil and hushed for optimum game-sightings. You are about to experience one of the unique environments in the world with its rugged glacier summits, moorlands and diverse forest that illustrate outstanding ecological processes. The park is home to Mt. Kenya, an extinct volcano and the second highest mountain in Africa. The mountain has two main peaks and is excellent for mountain climbing. For the tribes that dwell around the mountain consider it home of their traditional God ‘Ngai’ and the location of their creation mythology. It is therefore a place to be treated with respect and reverence. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. Enjoy several optional activities such as nature walks, hiking, and bird walk or enjoy a leisurely game viewing in your room or lodge balcony in front of the waterhole near the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.  

Day 5

Buffalo Springs | Samburu

Day 5 Breakfast will be served at the lodge followed by check out. Depart by road crossing the equator from the Southern to the Northern hemisphere to Samburu Game Reserve a semi arid region excellent for the photographer. Ashnil Samburu Camp sits in Buffalo Springs Game Reserve which takes its name from an oasis of crystal clear water at the western end of the reserve. It is separated from Samburu National Reserve by Ewaso Nyiro River and is less hilly and dense yet equally very attractive. Arrive at the camp in time for lunch followed by some leisure hours for a siesta/swim before you depart at around 16:00hrs for an afternoon game viewing and return back to the camp before sunset. Samburu is a name of Maasai origin ‘Samburr’ being a traditional leather bag for carrying honey and milk. The region is characterized by vast, open landscapes, dried riverbeds (depending on the season of the year) and red volcanic soil. Rock outcroppings contrast against the dense woodland vegetation along the banks of Ewaso Nyiro meaning ‘River of brown water’, the river that gives life to the reserve.  The area is home to the famous Samburu people related “cousin” to the Maasai people who have retained there cultural tradition. Dinner and overnight at the camp.  

Day 6

Samburu

Day 6 This full day in the Samburu Game Reserve will be spend searching for the big five, the Samburu five and observing the vast unspoiled scenery during morning and afternoon game viewing drive, watching crocodiles bask on muddy riverbanks and velvet monkeys frolic in the late afternoon sun. In addition, you will have a chance to interact with the Samburu People to learn about their culture. Samburu is renowned for its rare species of fauna known as the ‘Samburu five’. These five particular animals are usually only found north of the equator – the long necked gerenuk, the reticulated giraffe which is characterized by its liver-colored geometric patches defined by narrow white lines, the Grevy’s zebra which is smaller than the common zebra and looks more like a horse, the beisa oryx with black horizontal stripe running across its lower flank and the Somali ostrich males which have blue-grey necks and thighs. A camel back safari is also a specialty in Samburu as well as a cultural visit to the Samburu people who depend on their cattle, goat, sheep and donkey. All meals will be served at the camp. Dinner and overnight at the camp.  

Day 7

Mount Kenya

Day 7  Early morning game viewing is recommended when the light is best for photography and the animals are most active. After breakfast at the camp, you will depart by road to Ol Pejeta Conservancy situated between the foot hills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snowcapped Mount Kenya. A sheltered oasis, clustered around a waterhole and set in the pristine calm of its own private reserve, Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Sweetwater’s Tented Camp is in a class of its own. One of the only four private game reserves in Kenya, Sweetwater’s excels in the provision of privileged seclusion and private game viewing. The camp is gathered around a waterhole and features two rows of tents, which are reached via a series of stone pathways, which wind through our landscaped grounds. Arrive at the camp in time for lunch followed by some leisure hours for a siesta/swim. Later in the afternoon you will proceed on an afternoon game viewing across the vast savannah grasslands, a terrain favored by elephants. Visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only one of its kind in Kenya. The sanctuary is home to orphaned chimpanzees from the Jane Goodall Institute in Burundi. A walk around the sanctuary will give you an opportunity to spot the orphaned chimps. Return to the camp before sunset. Dinner and overnight at the camp.  

Day 8

Day 8  Breakfast will be served at the camp followed by morning and afternoon game viewing in the conservancy and visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary and the tamed rhinoceros. Sweetwater’s Game Reserve is one of only for private game reserves in Kenya and provides visitors with a unique combination of facilities and activities. This 24,000 acres reserve situated within 90,000 acres of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy enjoys magnificent views across the plains to the snow-capped peaks of Mt. Kenya, and has abundance of wildlife and tropical vegetation. Here guest enjoys special activities such as game walk, night game drives, horse-back game drives and meals in the bush. You will have a chance to view an amazing variety of wildlife such as zebra, lion, leopard, thomson’s gazelle, grant’s gazelle, oryx, eland, baboon, elephant and various species of birds. The conservancy also contains the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.  

Day 9

Day 9 Breakfast will be served at the camp. Depart by road into the bottom of the Great Rift Valley to Naivasha with a stopover at Thompson Falls.  The Great Rift Valley vista stretches from the sparkling waters of Lake Naivasha, Lake Elementaita and the jagged volcanic crater of Mount Longonot and the slopes of Aberdares Mountains – Kenya’s watershed for Nairobi.  Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch followed by some leisure hours for a siesta/swim. Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge is situated by the shores of Lake Naivasha, a sweet water lake approximately 177sq kms in size, and home to many varieties of flora and fauna. The resort is on 120 acres of prime land. There are 21 cottages built in a crescent shape, and each has 4 rooms, 2 on the ground and 2 at the top, which totals to 84 rooms. Lake Naivasha is the highest of the Great Rift Valley lakes and the second largest freshwater lake in Kenya. The lake has no known outlet, usually a requirement for a freshwater lake and is home to over 450 species of birds. Spend the afternoon at leisure or have several optional activities such as nature walk, biking, bird walk along the shore of the lake, visit to Crescent Island, cultural dance, horse riding, rock climbing, boat trips in the lake excursions to Hell’s Gate National Park, one of the few remaining places where you can walk alongside wildlife. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.  

Day 10

Masai Mara

Day 10 Breakfast will be served at the lodge followed by check out. Depart by road to the bottom of the Great Rift Valley and the iconic savannah wilderness alive with Maasai people and wildlife living together to the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. Ol Moran Tented Camp is situated within the Masai Mara eco-system and on the banks of Ololaimutia River a favourite watering point for wild animals especially elephants, buffalos and antelopes. The lounge is cozy designed to give you a taste of modernity in the heart of Masai Mara.  The lounge, bar and the dinning are synchronized in the same clubhouse to provide our customers ease of movement within the lounge, and a place where they can share their experience of the day. Arrive at the camp in the evening followed by some leisure hours for a siesta/swim. Masai Mara Game Reserve is characterized with vast acacia-dotted plains cut by ox-bow lakes, spectacular escarpments where move ‘Out of Africa’ was acted. The animals of the Masai Mara are the star of the show, providing drama and intrigue against a backdrop of spectacular scenery. You might notice a Maasai Moran standing on one foot herding hundreds of cow or shepherding goats and sheep holding a single stick or a spear, that’s their way of living. Dinner and overnight at the camp.  

Day 11

Masai Mara

Day 11 - 12 These two full days in the Masai Mara Game Reserve will be spared for the search of the big cats of the Masai Mara and the spectacular view of the famous migration. During game viewing remember to keep a sharp lookout, you may witness a dramatic hunt; a solitary leopard retrieving its kill from the high branches of an acacia tree or a herd of elephants protecting their young from predators. The Mara is one of the richest wildlife spectacular scenery for the annual migration, the Masai Mara wildebeest migration is no considered to be one of the wonders of the world, especially as they cross the Mara River. The reserve is also regarded as the most spectacular wildlife viewing area in Kenya with over 95 species of mammals and over 400 species of birds. Game viewing is never dull in the Mara and patience is rewarded with unique sightings, such as a pride of lion stalking prey. All meals will be served at the camp. Dinner and overnight at the camp.  

Day 13

Nairobi

Day 13 Breakfast will be served at the camp, depart by road to Nairobi with game viewing enroute. Lunch will be served at the famous Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi. After lunch, transfer to Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international departure flight with Africa Safari memories which will last forever.
