Family Safari to Botswana

Day 1: Maun. Arriving in the afternoon in Maun you will taken to your lodge in time for a swim and a relax before supper is served on the banks of the Thamalakane River. Accommodation: Thamalakane River Lodge en-suite thatch bungalows over looking the River. Meal Plan: Breakfast only.

Chobe | Moremi

Days 3 – 6: Moremi and Chobe – mobile bush safari. You will spend the first two nights camping in Moremi. There are morning and afternoon game drives as we explore the reserve extensively and traverse areas of savannah, Mopani forests, Acacia scrubland and the vast reed beds where fingers of the delta flow deep into the reserve. Each area hosting prolific and diverse animal and birdlife. Suppers are prepared over the campfire as we listen to the animal noises drifting in out of the dark and you can expect to be lulled to sleep by a symphony of screeches and clicks from cicadas and reed frogs and the occasional roar of a lion or whoop of a hyena. Exciting stuff. The following two nights we camp beside the Savute channel that is flowing again after being dry for nearly 30 years and the vast grass plains of the Savute marsh - an area famous for its large population of massive bull elephants and a favourite hunting ground of lion, wild dog, hyena and cheetah. We also visit a small Bushman painting site on a nearby hillside. You then drive through Chobe to Kasane where you are met by Muchenje staff for your transfer. Accommodation: Dome safari tents with foam camping mattresses or camping stretchers. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Victoria Falls | Zambezi

Days 11 - 12: Victoria Falls. ‘Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by Angels in their flight’ is the often quoted note that David Livingstone made when he first saw this spectacular waterfall. Illala Lodge is small, privately-owned and just five minutes’ walk from either the Falls themselves or Victoria Falls town. With its charming colonial style it is a peaceful place away from the hubbub of tourism. Spend a day at Victoria Falls, considered by some as one of The Seven Wonders of the World and see the Falls from a number of different view points. Victoria Falls is one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world - hence its almost universal appeal to visitors. The mighty Zambezi flows broad and placid to the brink of a 1700m wide basalt lip before taking a headlong 100 metre plunge into the thunderous, frothy chasm of the gorge below. This is the world's largest sheet of falling water.   Accommodation: Illala Lodge – spacious rooms in a tranquil setting.   Meal Plan: Breakfast only.
