Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1: NAIROBI – ABERDARES 0900 hrs – From Nairobi, take a 2.5 hour drive to the Outspan hotel. You pass through the industrial town of Thika and the intensely cultivated farms of the central Kenya. You relax Outspan before lunch is served at 1300 hrs. At 1500 hrs you are transferred in a lodge vehicle to Treetops lodge, one of the two famous tree hotels in the Aberdares National Park. Aberdares National Park is situated in the central highlands of central Kenya. The 767 km2 park cuts through valleys and deeply forested habitat and slopes in the western region. The Black Rhino is among the wildlife you will spot in the park together with elephant, sykes monkey, colobus monkey, leopard, baboon and occasionally the bongo antelope – found in the bamboo forest – and the lion. The eland and serval cats are to be found higher up in the moorland. Wildlife and bird viewing is not all the park offers; picnicking while bird viewing the over 250 species of birds including the eagles, plovers, the Jackson’s Francolin and the monkey eating crowned eagle is a must do. Trout fishing in the park rivers and waterfalls is available. Camping together with walking are ample activities to compound the park experience. The park is home to several luxurious lodges including the Treetops Lodge, famed for hosting Princess Elizabeth when she learnt that she had become a queen, after the death of her father. Day 2

Lake Nakuru

Day 2: ABERDARES – NAKURU After breakfast at Treetops lodge, transfer back to the Outspan hotel. Then drive to Lake Nakuru National Park to arrive in time for lunch at Sarova Lion Hill. Lake Nakuru National Park is situated in the Rift Valley region of Kenya and comprises of the blue-green Lake Nakuru, bushy grasslands and yellow acacia woodlands, the Great Rift Valley Escarpments hills and ridges. The park’s swamps and marshes are home to water birds including the famed pink flamingo and around 450 terrestrial bird species. The buffalo, white rhino, zebra, giraffe, hyena and over 56 mammal species are in abundance. Your stay is in world class lodges such as the spectacular Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or Lake Nakuru lodge. Alternatively you have the option of pitching in special campsites namely Reedbuck, Nyuki, Nyati, Rhino, Soysambu, Chui and Naishi. Public Campsites at Bacpakers and Makalia equally provide additional camping options. 1600 hrs: proceed on an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park till late in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill.

Day 3

Masai Mara | Serengeti

Day 3 LAKE NAKURU – MASAI MARA 730 hrs- Drive to via the Great Rift Valley to arrive at Masai Mara in time for lunch at Mara Sopa / Mara Simba Lodge. 1530 hrs- go for an afternoon game drive till dusk. The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savannah- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge

Day 4

Day 4: MASAI MARA 0630 hrs- Take the opportunity to fly over the Mara in a Hot air Balloon provided at extra cost. This is an optional activity. The balloon package includes a champagne breakfast in the wild! If you can spare the money, viewing abundant game afloat a balloon is an unforgettable experience. OR 0800 Hrs – morning game drive after breakfast. After lunch at the lodge you, enjoy the early afternoon at leisure. 1600 hrs – Afternoon game drive till dusk. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge

Day 5

Day 5: MASAI MARA – NAIVASHA Morning Breakfast and depart at 0830 hrs to Lake Naivasha. Arrive for late lunch. Afternoon at Leisure. Optional boat ride and visit to crescent Island can be provided at an Extra Cost. Crescent Island game park is Lake Naivasha’s best kept secret. The beautiful and private park offers guides that take you on a guided walk. The park is accessible from the road or by boat and hosts bird-life in unimaginable abundance: fish-eagles, cormorants and pelicans form a great population of the aves. Your walk leads you to the trails of gazelle, waterbuck, zebra and wildebeeste, that freely move from the mainland to the island as the park is unfenced. You will also spot the hippo resting in the water during the day or a lazy python full after a kill. A sunset walk in the park is a photogenic moment eternally to be engraved in your memory. Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge.

Day 6

Amboseli

Day 6: NAIVASHA – AMBOSELI 0700 Hrs – Check out and commence drive to Amboseli. Arrive in time for lunch at the Amboseli Sopa Lodge. Afternoon game drive at Amboseli National Park. Dinner and overnight at the Amboseli Sopa Lodge

Day 7

Amboseli | Kilimanjaro

Day 7: AMBOSELI 0630 hrs – early morning game drive in the Amboseli National Park. Return to the lodge for breakfast. You spend the rest of the morning at leisure. After lunch at the lodge, proceed at 1600 hrs for an afternoon game drive till dusk. Amboseli sits on the lower slopes of mighty Mount Kilimanjaro – Africa’s highest – whose peak lies across the border in Tanzania. It is quite an experience to see Kilimanjaro hovering above the clouds in an early morning. The animal pictures arising against the dramatic backdrop of the mountain will thrill the photography enthusiast. Amboseli is renowned for its huge elephant herds. You will also see buffalo, black rhino, zebra, wildebeest and other plain animals. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge

Day 8

Tsavo

Day 8: AMBOSELI – TSAVO WEST After breakfast, depart via the Sheitani lava flow for Tsavo West National Park to arrive in time for lunch at Kilaguni serena. At 1530 hrs, you proceed for an afternoon game drive within the park until dusk. Tsavo West National Park is a world renown wildlife viewing spot. Here you lay eyes – and lenses – on the almost extinct basra reed warbler, corncrake, bufalloes, leopards, cheetah, lions, hippos, rhino and elephant, crocodiles, vervet monkeys, antelope, baboons and giraffes. This park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise and the range of flora is truly captivating: vast acacia dot the woodland and grassland connected to the scrubland through riverine vegetation. Rocky ridges in the park are a major geo-physical attraction added together to the Mzima Springs, the source of Mombasa’s water. These springs are recharged daily with hundreds of millions of litres of crystal clear water by underground streams emanating from Chyulu Hills. At Mzima, you will view all sorts of animals gathering for a drink particularly in the dry season. You will be able to spot the crocodiles and the hippo. Dinner and overnight at Kilaguni Serena

Day 9

Day 9: TSAVO WEST / MOMBASA 0800 hrs – Check out and commence drive to Mombasa with game drive en route. Enjoy lunch at your own expense. Arrive in the early afternoon in Mombasa and transfer to Severin Sea Lodge. Dinner and overnight at Severin Sea Lodge

Day 10

Day 10: MOMBASA Spend the days enjoying activities at the finest beach of Mombasa and leisurely pace of life at the Kenyan coast. The Severin Sea Lodge is a dream hotel where the white sandy beach is lapped by the Indian Ocean, cool sea breezes and the equator sun giving a pleasant warm temperature all year round. The lodge is a tranquil haven and a dazzling paradise set alongside Kenyas exotic Bamburi Beach a few kilometers from the bustling town and harbour of Mombasa and only 30 km from Moi International Airport.

Day 11

Day 11: MOMBASA – NAIROBI After breakfast you will be free (depending on flight booking) to check out. You will be transferred to Mombasa Airport for flight back to Nairobi.
