Mikumi National Park was established in1964 covering an area of 1070 square kilometers; it was later extended in 1975 to cover the current area of 3,230 square kilometers. Mikumi National Park is located to the North of the famous Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere NP).
Mikumi National Park is named after the spindle shaped Borassus palm trees. The Mkata plain supports vast herds of plains game such as wildebeest, impala, zebra and giraffe, hunted by their associated predators; while you are more likely to find elephants, buffalos, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, greater kudu, roan and sable antelope in the surrounding less fertile hills.

Dar es Salaam to Mikumi NP

You will be picked up from Dar es Salaam early morning (6:00am) and drive to Mikumi National Park via Morogoro town, this drive will take up to 6hrs. Arrive for lunch in Mikumi National Park then continue with afternoon game drive until sunset. Meals Plan: L & D

Mikumi to Dar es Salaam

Wake up for early morning game drive in Mikumi National Park until 0830hrs then drive back to the tourist cottage for breakfast. After breakfast you will continue with game drive until 11:30am then start to drive back to Dar es Salaam with a short stop in Morogoro for hot lunch. On arrival in Dar es Salaam you will be dropped at your hotel or airport for late flight to other destination. Meals Plan: B & L
