Itinerary

Day 1

Kafue

Day 1: Livingstone – Kafue National Park Pick-up from your accommodation in the early morning and drive to Kafue National Park– one of the world’s largest national parks with some 22,400 km2 . We enter at the southern gate and drive via Nanzhila Plains up to Lake Ithezi Thezi, where we will explore the area on a game drive. Camping at Hippo Bay Campsite at Lake Ithezi-Thezi. (-/L/D)

Day 2

Kafue

Day 2: Ithezi Thezi (Southern Kafue) – central Kafue After a morning drive along the lake shore we head north to the central area of the Kafue National Park on the ‘Spinal Road’ to our next campsite at Kasabushi Lodge. We will do game drives in this area. Camping next to the Kafue River at Kasabushi campsite. (FB)

Day 3

Kafue

Day 3: Central Kafue We have the whole day to do game viewing in the area along the Shishamba River, a well known habitat for lions. Kafue is also known for its wide range of antelope species and big herds of elephants. You can also book optional activities at the lodge (game walk, boat cruise); Camping next to the Kafue River at Kasabushi campsite. (FB)

Day 4

Kafue

Days 4 and 5: Kafue National Park, central part: In the morning we pack up camp and head further north to our next stop at Mayukuyuku Camp. We have 2 days to do game drives in this area. Several small rivers cross this area. These leave a number of waterholes in the dry season for the animals to quench their thirst. Wild dogs, which roam large areas of the park, cheetah and lion as well as the elusive leopard are among the inhabitants here. Camping on the banks of the Kafue River at Mayukuyuku Campsite (FB)
