Itinerary

Day 1

DAY 1 Fly overnight from London via Johannesburg to Kasane

Day 2

Chobe

DAYS 2 to 4 Having arrived at Kasane you will be driven to the western end of CHOBE NATIONAL PARK, renowned for its huge elephant population that comes out of the bush to drink and bathe in the river. Perched on the escarpment overlooking the Caprivi Strip, Muchenje Safari Lodge offers game drives in the Park, as well as boat trips on the Chobe river and night drives and walking safaris in the bordering forest reserve. Accommodation is in thatched stone bungalows each with a private verandah and there is an inviting swimming pool.

Day 5

Okavango Delta

DAYS 5 to 7 Lilac Breasted RollerNext fly to Motswiri Camp in the SELINDA RESERVE where five tented rooms are set in a stunning location on the raised banks of the Spillway, an ancient watercourse which links the Okavango and Kwando-Linyanti floodplains. The reserve combines the open floodplains of the Okavango Delta with the riverine forests lining the Spillway and is home to the rare roan antelope, sable and wild dog in addition to all the more usual game and a superb range of bird species. Activities in this beautiful and remote area include walking, canoeing, mokoro trips (dug out canoe) and horse riding.

Day 8

DAYS 8 to 10 A different experience awaits you at Kwara Camp in an exclusive concession in the heart of the OKAVANGO DELTA. This traditionally styled tented camp is set under towering ebony and mangosteen trees and the air is full of the birds calling. While you can walk from camp, game viewing is primarily by vehicle, both by day and after dark, and also by motor boat with the opportunity to try some fishing.

Day 11

DAYS 11 to 13 Nxai Camp is a wonderful location in which to end the safari. The camp takes its name from NXAI PAN, an ancient fossil lakebed where large numbers of springbok and giraffe are found and which attracts a seasonal migration of zebra. There is a waterhole in front of the camp so you can view game from the comfort of your own room but a highlight here is to walk with Bushmen tracking the animals. The negligible light pollution makes the endless desert night sky perfect for stargazing.

Day 14

DAY 14 Fly back to Johannesburg via Maun then onwards overnight to London
