Shira 1 Camp

Shira 1 Camp - Shira 2 Camp

Shira 2 Camp

Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower–Barranco

Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp Trekking Hours: 6–7 hours After breakfast, trek across the Shira Plateau toward Lava Tower, reaching approximately 4,530 m. This climb-high, descend-low day is important for acclimatization. After lunch, descend through the dramatic alpine landscape to Barranco Camp, a scenic campsite surrounded by giant senecio plants with impressive views of Kibo and the surrounding glaciers.

Barranco Camp

Baranco Camp - Karanga Camp

Baranco Camp - Karanga Camp Trekking Hours: 3-4 hours Leave Barranco Camp after breakfast for Karanga Valley. The day begins with an hour and a half scramble up the Barranco Wall. This is the hardest part of the day and in some places you may have to use your hands to pull your body up. After reaching the top, make a short descent into the greener Karanga Valley. We generally camp on the ridge above the valley to allow for greater acclimatization.

Karanga Camp

Karanga Camp - Barafu Camp

Kilimanjaro

Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp Trekking Hours: 3–4 hours After breakfast, trek through the alpine desert toward Barafu Camp, enjoying spectacular views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks and several glaciers along the way. Mweka Camp

Mweka Camp - Mweka Gate

Kilimanjaro

Mweka Camp - Mweka Gate Trekking Hours: 3-4 hours After breakfast, finish the trek with a descent to Mweka Gate.
