This four-day fly-in safari takes you from Zanzibar into the heart of Tanzania’s Great Migration. Begin in Kogatende, Northern Serengeti, an important area for the seasonal movement of wildebeest and zebras toward the Mara River. During the migration season, you may see large herds gathering near the river, with chances to witness a dramatic river crossing. The Northern Serengeti also offers opportunities to spot lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and other resident wildlife.
Continue to Central Serengeti, where the open plains, kopjes and woodland areas provide excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing. Pick up from your Zanzibar hotel and fly to Kogatende. Meet your safari driver-guide and begin a game drive in Northern Serengeti. Explore the Mara River area, with chances to see wildebeest and zebras gathering along the river, as well as lions, elephants, giraffes and other wildlife.

Spend a full day exploring the Kogatende area. Follow the migration route toward the Mara River and look for large herds of wildebeest and zebras. If the herds are preparing to cross, wait near an approved viewing area for a possible river crossing. You may also spot crocodiles, lions, leopards, elephants and other resident wildlife.
