The route travels from Arusha through Tarangire and the Serengeti before finishing with a full Ngorongoro Crater game drive on the final day.
Instead of visiting Ngorongoro Crater at the beginning, this itinerary saves the crater for Day 6. This creates a natural progression from Tarangire's dry-season wildlife concentrations to the open Serengeti and the seasonal migration areas of Northern Serengeti, followed by the enclosed crater ecosystem before returning to Arusha.
August commonly brings migrating wildebeest and zebra into Northern Serengeti around Kogatende, Lamai and the Mara River region. Their precise location changes with rainfall, grazing and natural herd movement. River crossings are unpredictable and cannot be guaranteed.

Arusha–Tarangire–Karatu
Tarangire
Leave Arusha at about 7:30 am with your professional driver-guide and travel by private 4×4 Land Cruiser to Tarangire National Park. August falls within the dry season, when wildlife frequently gathers around the Tarangire River and remaining water sources. Spend around 5–6 hours exploring baobab woodland and open plains for elephants, giraffes, zebra and other wildlife. Later, leave the park and continue to Karatu.

After breakfast in Karatu, drive into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and cross the highlands toward the Serengeti without descending into Ngorongoro Crater. Continue across the plains and enter Serengeti National Park for your first Serengeti game drive. Explore Central Serengeti later in the day, searching the Seronera area's river valleys, grasslands and kopjes for resident wildlife before continuing to camp.

This is the longest road day of the safari, but returning to Karatu positions you close to Ngorongoro Crater for an early descent on the final morning. Arrive at the lodge in the evening.

Leave Karatu early and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before descending approximately 600 metres to the crater floor. Spend around 5–6 hours game driving through grasslands, woodland and wetland habitats, looking for wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, hippos, lions and, with luck, black rhino. After a picnic lunch, ascend from the crater and drive to Arusha, where your 6-day private safari ends.
