This 3-day February Tanzania private calving safari combines the Great Migration in Ndutu with the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater. It is designed for travellers with limited time who want to experience the peak wildebeest calving season and one of Northern Tanzania’s most important Big Five destinations.

February rainfall produces fresh, nutrient-rich grass across the Ndutu plains and Southern Serengeti ecosystem. Large herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles gather to feed and give birth. Lions, cheetahs, spotted hyenas and jackals follow the migrating herds, creating excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and photography.

Your Ndutu and Ngorongoro private safari is operated by KiliPori Safaris using a private 4x4 Land Cruiser with a photographic roof, window seating, charging points, a refrigerator and drinking water. You will be accompanied by a professional Tanzania driver-guide who follows current wildlife movements and recent sightings.

Unlike a shared group safari, the private arrangement gives you control over photography stops, game-drive pace and picnic breaks. Your guide can spend more time at important sightings while adjusting the route according to road conditions and the location of the migration herds.

The safari explores Lake Ndutu, Lake Masek, Big Marsh, the surrounding short-grass plains and Ngorongoro Crater. Wildlife may include wildebeest calves, zebras, gazelles, cheetahs, lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, spotted hyenas and black rhinoceroses. Wildlife movements and actual births remain natural and cannot be guaranteed.

Accommodation is provided at Ndutu Heritage Camp and Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge. Both properties offer en-suite accommodation, full-board meals and convenient access to the wildlife areas. Comparable midrange accommodation may be offered if either property is unavailable.

This three-day Tanzania safari includes long road transfers because Ndutu is approximately 280 km from Arusha. Travellers wanting shorter transfers can request a private fly-in version using Ndutu Airstrip. KiliPori Safaris can also add Tarangire, Central Serengeti, Zanzibar or extra nights in Ndutu.
