Safari summary
Zambia is the epitome of a destination that offers an active adventure and high comfort. Here, you do not just observe the wild, you become part of it. The Zambia Highlights main focus is the South Luangwa National Park, home to all of the "Big Five." Stay in multiple areas, in deluxe accommodations.
Whether you are on a traditional game drive in open vehicles, on a walking safari, uncovering the secrets of the bush during thrilling night drives, or floating past wildlife on a river expedition, every moment is an invitation to explore. You will be led by Africa’s finest guides, ensuring every encounter with majestic leopards, lions, pods of hippos and elephants is safe, intimate, and unforgettable.
Short walks can be made from camp as well as arrangements can be made for multi-day walking safaris where you walk from bush camp to bush camp. All walking safaris are accompanied by an armed ranger and an open vehicle as back up if you decide to take a rest from walking.
End your day spending a night in a Sky Bed or in a “deluxe” fly-camp.
A short flight will take you to Victoria Falls. Walking tours, cruises, and helicopter rides here allow you to experience the beauty of the Falls anyway you'd like.
Zambia safaris are organized on an individual basis. Camps and lodges are selected based on what activities you would like to participate in, your comfort level, and budget.
Solo Travelers: This is an ideal trip for a solo traveler as you join other guests on all activities. Properties are small and game drives and activities are offered with limited participation - so a solo traveler will never feel lost in a crowd.

Itinerary
Day 01 - Lusaka, Zambia
Welcome to Zambia! Our local Born Free host will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in Lusaka. Get some rest – your adventure begins in the morning!
Day 02 - On Safari
South Luangwa
Board a short flight to Mfuwe, the gateway to your safari in the South Luangwa. Game viewing begins almost immediately as you are escorted to your safari camp. Known for its big cat sightings, South Luangwa is often referred to as the Valley of the Leopard. The game viewing here is superb, with leopards and lions sometimes wandering through the ebony grove in search of prey.
Day 03
South Luangwa
Game drives (morning & afternoon) take you through lush vegetation to see wildlife unique to the Luangwa valley, including the Thornicroft giraffe and Cookson’s wildebeest. The main attraction in South Luangwa is the Walking Safari. Immerse yourself in the unspoiled wilderness, discovering the diverse habitats that make up this exceptional national park.
Day 04
South Luangwa
Don't go out on the morning game drive!! Sit back enjoy fresh coffee/tea. Take in the surrounding area and realize where you are. There is plenty of time for an afternoon game drive or walk. For those wishing to truly immerse themselves in nature, a sleepout under the stars lets you feel the thrill of early African explorers. It's an experience you will never forget.
Day 05
South Luangwa
Journey deeper into South Luangwa and spend the next three days in another area of the park. The landscape comes to life with the rolling gait of giraffe, the heart-shaped nose of the puku, and the midnight whoop of the hyena. Head out on a game drive in hopes of finding a pride of lion with playful cubs, a herd of elephant, and wild dogs. As darkness sets in, embark on an exhilarating night safari with the use of red spotlights.
Day 06
South Luangwa
Explore the second area of your South Luangwa safari. Diverse scenery and search for the wildlife species you may not have seen in your first camp. Night drives can be very rewarding, with the bush revealing a different nocturnal surprise every time - leopard, genets or civet cats, mongoose, elephant shrews, various owl species, and the less common porcupine and badgers.
Day 07
South Luangwa
Photographers and animal lovers will jump at the chance to sit in one of the hides, where you can observe the wildlife at very close range. There is nothing as impressive as getting to see elephant feet at your eye level! Your day unfolds as you wish - go out on game drives, walks or if the camp has water based safari.
Day 08 - Livingstone
Bid farewell to the bush as another flight takes you to the town of Livingstone, on the Zambia side of Victoria Falls. One of the natural wonders of the world, Victoria Falls is a World Heritage site. Known as Mosi Oa Tunya, or "The Smoke that Thunders," the Falls drop 350 feet into the gorge below. Spend two days exploring the area by land, water, or air. This afternoon, set out on foot to get your first up-close view of the Falls from the Zambian side.
Day 09 - Victoria Falls
Optional today, and highly recommended - Take to the skies in a Helicopter flight for stunning aerial views of both the Zambia & Zimbabwe sides of the Falls. Otherwise, the day is at your leisure to explore the area.
Day 10 - Your Journey Onwards
One more walk to Vic Falls, possibly catch a glimpse of the rainbow that often frames the gorge. After breakfast, you are escorted to your onward flight.
