Mokoro Safari: An Intimate Water-Based Journey Through Quiet Channels With An Expert Poler, Offering Close Wildlife And Bird Encounters In A Peaceful, Untouched Wilderness Setting.
Highlights
- A close wildlife views. Peaceful, intimate way to explore untouched waterways.
- Learn Delta survival skills. Up-close bush experience away from crowds and noise.
Your experience begins with tranquil mokoro excursions, gliding silently through winding channels in a traditional dugout canoe guided by an expert poler. As you move through the clear waters, you may encounter hippos surfacing in the distance, elephants feeding along the reed-lined banks, and a rich variety of birdlife such as kingfishers, herons, and fish eagles. The slow pace allows you to notice the smallest details of the ecosystem, from water lilies to insect life.
Next, you step onto remote islands for guided hiking safaris. On foot, your guide interprets animal tracks, plant uses, and signs of wildlife activity, bringing you closer to the rhythm of the bush in a safe and controlled way. The landscape shifts between open floodplains and shaded woodland, offering chances to spot antelope, warthog, and other plains game.
The experience continues with swimming and fishing in designated safe delta channels, where the calm, clear waters provide a refreshing escape. Here, you can relax, cast a line for bream or tilapia, or simply float in the natural surroundings, fully immersed in the serenity of the Delta.

Okavango Delta
Okavango Delta
Exploring the waterways in a traditional dugout canoe (mokoro) is highly recommended and a truly unique experience. Gliding silently through clear waters that have been purified by the waterlilies, reeds, papyrus and Kalahari sand, gives guests an unparalleled perspective of the abundant wonders. This is the only place where you can track wild animals on foot as it is prohibited in National parks and Game Reserves in Botswana.
