ALPO Guided Expeditions is a tour operator based in Arusha, northern Tanzania, running private and small-group safaris alongside guided Kilimanjaro climbs. Safaris last from two to six days and cover Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Arusha National Park, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is part of every safari, including the two-day option, and the Serengeti joins itineraries of three days or longer. Each safari can be tailored to the season and to what guests most want to see, and a Zanzibar beach extension can be arranged on request.
Many guests combine a safari with a Kilimanjaro climb on the Machame, Lemosho, Marangu, Rongai or Northern Circuit route, or with a climb of Mount Meru. Climbs run in groups of up to 12, with one guide for every three climbers and twice-daily blood oxygen and pulse checks. Most programs are led by co-founder Liberaty Victor Mato, who has climbed Kilimanjaro more than 220 times. Co-founder Yevgen Staroselskiy, a Master of Sport in Mountaineering who has completed the Seven Summits and also climbed K2, designed the company's programs.
About our safari vehicles
Safaris run in 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser safari vehicles with a pop-up roof driven by our driver-guides. Transfers between Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and the hotel are made in our own vehicle and are included in every Kilimanjaro package.
