Itinerary
Day 01
Day 01: Kigali - Nyungwe Forest On your way to Nyungwe, you will have a stopover at interesting places such as local markets, the traditional palace of Rwanda’s Former King in Nyanza. Drive past green fields of tea scattered across the hillsides and the small wooden houses unique to the areas surrounding the forest. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guest House.
Day 02
Day 02: Cultural Museum of Butare After breakfast, you will pay a visit to the Botanical Gardens and a cultural museum in Butare. Later, visit the hot springs in Bugarama and rest to the Gisakura Guest House for dinner and overnight.
Day 03
Day 03: Lake Kivu An early morning breakfast will be followed by a drive to Kibuye passing through breath-taking mountains, deep valleys, and the typical Rwandan topography. You will have a lunch stopover at Hotel Bethanie. You may have an optional relaxation at the lake shore or carry out a boat trip on Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel.
Day 04
Day 04: Visit Ross Carr's Orphanage Head for a visit at the Ross Carr’s Orphanage and later, relax at the lake shore. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Malahide Paradise.
Day 05
Day 05: Local Community Tour Drive further northwards to Ruhengeri. You may decide to visit the local communities or the local Dian Fossey projects around in Ruhengeri. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House.
Day 06
Day 06: Visit Batwa Pygimies After breakfast, pay a visit to the Batwa pigmies, an animist community in Ruhengeri and other local communities for the whole day. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House.
Day 07
Day 07: Karisoke Gorilla Research Centre Trek to Karisoke Gorilla Research Centre which Dian Fossey, the famous primatologist set up., or visit local communities. In the evening, head to Kigali and have dinner and overnight at Intercontinental Hotel /Chez Lando Hotel/Okapi Hotel
Day 08
Day 08: Kigali City Tour Carry out city tour such as a visit to the local markets, the handicraft shops, the Franco-Rwanda cultural center and the genocide memorial sites. Later, transfer to Kigali International Airport.
