Itinerary

Day 01

Day 01: Arrive in Kigali You will be met by our driver/guide upon arrival at Kigali International Airport and be transferred to Kigali for a city tour including a genocide memorial site and shopping of African art and craft. Dinner and overnight at Intercontinental Hotel /Chez Lando Hotel/Okapi Hotel.

Day 02

Nyungwe Forest

Day 02: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest You will be met by our safari guide and proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park. On your arrival, you may decide to carry a guided nature walk. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guest House.

Day 03

Day 03: Chimpanzee Tracking Early start trekking for the chimpanzees, this can take anything from a few hours to a full day depending on where the chimpanzees are. It should be mentioned that it is not guaranteed to see the chimps as they are unpredictable and can move long distances in one day. There are several other primates in Nyungwe such as the Rwenzori colobus, L’Hoest’s monkey, Silver monkey, Owl faced monkey and the Grey cheeked Mangabey. Dinner and overnight Gisakura Guest House.

Day 04

Day 04: Enroute to Kibuye After breakfast, you will start your exploration of Lake Kivu. On your way to Kibuye, you will visit the Genocide Memorial of Bisesero. After lunch, have some relaxation on the shores of Lake Kivu. Overnight at Molia Hill Lodge/Lake Kivu Serena Hotel.

Day 05

Volcanoes

Day 05: Drive to Volcanoes National Park After breakfast, you will have an enjoyable speed-boat trip to Gisenyi and be picked up in Gisenyi for lunch. After, drive to Ruhengeri or Kinigi for an overnight. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House.

Day 06

Day 06: Gorilla Trekking Have an early breakfast and be transferred to Kinigi Park Headquarter for briefing before you start the trekking activity in the park. Trekking through the forest, hills and swamps can be tough, strenuous and tiring, sometimes taking up to 8 hours in the forest. But coming in contact with the great primates is well worth the effort. You spend one hour with the gorillas which is a truly amazing experience. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House.

Day 07

Akagera

Day 07: Drive to Akagera National Park You will drive to the east of Rwanda to Akagera National Park after breakfast at Ruhengeri. On your arrive at the park, carry out an afternoon game drive and you will be able to see a variety of birds and animals such as elephant, giraffe, buffalo, spotted hyena, hippo, and crocodiles. Overnight and dinner at Akagera Safari Lodge/Dereva Hotel.

Day 08

Akagera

Day 08: Canoe Ride After breakfast, you either go for a morning game drive in the park again or a canoe ride on Lake Ihema to see the large number of hippo, the huge Nile crocodile and birds. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Safari Lodge/Dereva Hotel.
