The Park has one of the highest bio diversity ratings of any national park in the world as its well known to be habitat of about 95 mammals along with 612 species of birds. NB: On your way to Queen Elizabeth National Park, you stop at the equator in Masaka town. At this point, there are two cement circles marking the equator line and it is worth stopping if you are traveling to Masaka or Kampala for a photo moment. Also watch a demonstration by local entrepreneurs on how water swirls in opposite directions in the northern & southern hemispheres at the equator line. Another reason that makes equator worthwhile stop are the great shopping bargains. The point has got several craft shops and art galleries run by individuals and organizations. These craft stalls sell souvenirs and handmade products while some with marks talking about the Equator. It will not be inconveniencing if you bought a T-shirt with words ‘I crossed the Uganda Equator’

On our way we will have stopovers at the Ugandan equator at Kayabwe, for water experiment, pictures and shop for a souvenir. After lunch at Igongo Cultural Center Mbarara, we continue to the southwest and head for the Western Rift Valley. We will enter the park with a mini game drive.

Day 2 morning drive & boat cz

The day begins early as we go for our morning game drive, heading for Kasenyi plains, towards the Kobs mating grounds, in search for wildlife that may include the Bushbuck, Waterbuck, Elephants, Buffaloes, lions, Leopards and other wildlife in their natural habitat. The game drives normally take 3 -4 hrs before returning for breakfast. In the afternoon we take on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural link between Lake Edward and Lake George.

Today you go to track the rare mountain gorillas. After a briefing from your ranger guide at the UWA offices you will begin tracking the mountain gorillas through the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
