Victoria Falls | Zambezi

DAY 1; (1 Night)  VICTORIA FALLS, Zimbabwe  [Lodge] Visiting Victoria Falls, ZimbabweOn arrival at Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe you will be met and transferred to Amadeus Guest House. This afternoon you will explore the mighty Victoria Falls on a guided tour. Hwange | Victoria Falls

DAYS 2 - 3; (2 Nights)  VICTORIA FALLS TO HWANGE NATIONAL PARK, Zimbabwe  [Tented Room] Painted Dog Conservation CentreThis morning we depart Victoria Falls and make our way to Hwange National Park where we spend the next three nights. This afternoon you can partake in an optional game drive if time allows. Over the following two days we will have plenty of time to explore this vast wilderness on game drives. Hwange National Park is one of Africa's finest havens for wildlife and is home to vast herds of elephant, buffalo, and zebra and has a very large concentration of giraffe. It is also home to many predators and endangered species plus varied birdlife. We will also visit the Painted Dog Conservation Centre to witness the work that is done to protect these endangered species. Revised 2014: The next day is spent on a full day's game drive in the park. Hwange

DAY 4; (1 Night)  HWANGE NATIONAL PARK TO MATOPOS, Zimbabwe   [Tented Camp] Grave of Cecil John RhodesWe leave the beauty of the Hwange National Park behind us and head to Big Cave Camp in the Matopos area. The Matopos Hills comprise an extraordinary collection of huge bare granite hills with gravity-defying boulders scattered all over the countryside to create a quite unique and rather mysterious landscape. The national park is famous for its outstanding views, San (bushman) painted caves, wildlife (especially the Black Eagle) and as the chosen burial place of Cecil Rhodes who named his favorite spot. We visit the grave of Cecil John Rhodes on our way. Departure: 8am Distance / Time: 320kms Overnight: Camping at Big Cave Camp or similar (Tents, communal ablutions with hot water). Day 5

DAY 5; (1 Night)  MATOPOS TO GREAT ZIMBABWE, Zimbabwe  [Chalets] Great Zimbabwe RuinsAfter breakfast this morning we drive to the Great Zimbabwe Ruins via Gweru. We visit the ruins, before checking into our accommodation for the evening. The ruins, which are also known as the capital of the Queen of Sheba, according to an age-old legend – are a unique testimony to the Bantu civilization of the Shona between the 11th and 15th centuries. The city, which covers an area of nearly 80 ha, was renowned as an important trading centre from the middle Ages onwards. Day 6

DAY 6; (1 Night)  GREAT ZIMBABWE TO MUTARE, Zimbabwe  [Chalets] Safari VehicleToday we leave Great Zimbabwe and drive via Mutare to the Bvumbu Mountains located in the east of the country bordering on Mozambique. This area is Zimbabwe's gateway to the sea and is known as the Eastern Highlands. The region is adorned with cool green forests, rolling hills, trout filled streams and rugged mountain peaks, making it reminiscent of the English countryside. Departure: 8am Distance: 315kms Overnight: Inn on The Vumba or similar (Rooms with en-suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar & restaurant). Meals: Breakfast at Norma Jeane's Lakeview Resort or similar, Lunch prepared by guide en-route, Dinner at Vumba or similar.

Day 7

DAYS 7 - 8; (2 Nights)  MUTARE TO VILANCULOUS, Mozambique  [Lodge] Beaches in Vilanculous, MozambiqueWe have to get up early, as today is the longest drive on our safari. We cross the border into Mozambique and head southwards to the coastal town of Vilanculous, which is the gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago. The village of Vilanculous is close to the beach and just about halfway between Maputo and Beira. Here you'll find buzzing markets, restaurants, public phones, banks and quaint supermarkets. The next day is at leisure to explore the village or just to relax on the beach. Departure: 6am Distance: 575kms Overnight: Blue Waters Beach Resort or similar (Chalets with en-suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar, restaurant, dive centre and activities centre). DAYS 9 - 10; (2 Nights)  VILANCULOUS TO INHAMBANE, Mozambique  [Guest House] Bamboozi Beach Lodge MozambiqueAfter breakfast we drive along the coast to the sleepy and neat town of Tofo where graceful dhows on the usually tranquil water are one of the most obvious features. We spend the next two nights at Bamboozi Beach Lodge with its breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. Enjoy walking on the pristine beach or partake in the various watersports on offer. Scuba diving is among the best in the world with regular sightings of manta rays, whale sharks and turtles. (All activities are optional and for own expense.) We settle down for the night at Albufeira Camp, close to the Massingir Dam wall. Departure: 7am Distance / Time: 522kms Overnight: Albufeira Camp or similar (Chalets with en-suite bathrooms). Day 12

Kruger

DAYS 12 - 13; (2 Nights) MASSINGIR TO KRUGER NATIONAL PARK, South Africa   [Chalets & Tented Camp] Elephants in Kruger National ParkAn early morning getaway takes us back into South Africa through the Giriyondo gate into the world-renowned Kruger National Park - South Africa's most famous and biggest game reserve. Kruger National Park has nearly 2 million hectares of unrivalled diversity of life forms that fuses with historical and archaeological sights - this is real Africa. The world renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Truly the flagship of the South African National Parks, Kruger is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. The following day we depart the camp at sunrise for a full day of game viewing in the park with the chance of spotting the 'Big 5' again, whilst making our way to one of the southern camps. Our last night in the park will be enjoyed around the campfire and we will enjoy a typical South African Braai (BBQ). Departure
