Kenya’s northern safari circuit is very different in character from its more popular southern counterpart. It is centred upon the contiguous Samburu and Buffalo Springs national reserves, tracts of arid, thorny bush that flank the perennial Ewaso Ngiro River, but also include the nearby and climatically similar Shaba National Reserve and the underutilised Meru National Park. Not only do these reserves possess a wilder and relatively untrammeled mood than the ones to their south, but they also host a collection of unique dry-country endemics – the outsized Grevy’s zebra, the striking reticulated giraffe, and the oddball gerenuk for instance – whose global range is more-or-less focussed upon the north of Kenya.

Nairobi to Samburu Reserve

Pick up from you Nairobi Hotel and transfer to the Wilson airport for the morning flight to Samburu. Upon arrival our guide will meet and greet you at the Samburu airfield. Proceed to the Elephant Bedroom Camp with a game drive en-route for check in as well as have refreshments. Afternoon game drive at 4.00 to 6.00 p.m. Dinner and overnight at the Elephant Bedroom Camp.

Depart Samburu after breafast and drive to the Ol Pejeta conservancy, Nanyuki a drive that will take approximately 2.45 Minutes. On Arrival, proceed to the Serena sweet waters camp with a game drive en route. Lunch followed by an afternoon game drive at 4.00 to 6.00 p.m. Dinner and overnight at the Serena Sweet waters camp.

Spend the day with two long game drives, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, in between have a chance to explore the endangered species boma as well as the chimpanzee sanctuary. All meals dinner and overnight at the Serena Sweetwaters Camp.

Depart Ol Pejeta and Drive to Lake Naivasha, a 3 Hour 30 minutes drive. Have some brief stops at the Equator and the Thompson falls in Nyahuru. Arrive in good time for lunch at the Lake Naivasha country club. Afternoon have a boat trip to see the hippos and the birdlife of Naivasha as well as a visit to the crescent Island. Dinner and overnight at the Lake Naivasha Country club.

After lunch, relax as you await your evening game drive at 4.00 to 6.00 p.m. Dinner and overnight at the Mara Sarova Camp
