Itinerary
Day 1
Day 1: Welcome to Uganda You will be picked by our guide at Entebbe. You will later travel to Kampala. Depending on your arrival time, you may visit the Uganda Wildlife Centre and Botanical gardens. The Botanical Gardens is an excellent birding spot to get started on arrival. The Botanical Gardens were established in 1898, situated on the northern shores of Lake Victoria. The Gardens are at an altitude of about 1300 to 1425 metres above sea level. The gardens cover just 100 acres, but have easy trails offering some quite special birds like Palm-nut Vulture, Open-billed Stork, Scaly Francolin, Tambourine Dove, Giant Kingfisher, Great Blue & Ross's Turacos. White-headed & Double-toothed Barbets, Red-headed Lovebird, Broad-billed Roller, Pied & Black-and-white Casqued Hornbills, Verreaux's Eagle-Owl, Angola Swallow, Splendid Glossy Starling, Black-headed Gonolek, Red-chested Sunbird, Grey-capped Warbler, Brown-throated Wattle-eye, Brown Twinspot, Black-headed Bush-shrike and, Slender-billed weaver, Orange Weaver. Day 2
Day 2: Travel to Lira Travel to Lira Mid Northern Uganda to for your community tour. Arrive early afternoon. After lunch visit Upendo Art and Crafts Centre. This is a women group that has come together to promote the Lango culture through the making of crafts, storytelling and traditional dances. These ladies are mostly women who lost their husbands during the Kony insurgency in Northern Uganda. The group facilitates empowerment of the rural person through development of skills, talent and creativity to improve their quality of life. The group was started in 2003. The art and crafts works produced are sold both on the local and international markets. Stay at Kanberra Hotel
Day 3
Day 3: Lango Culture and historical sites visit Today after breakfast visit Ngetta Hill the first Lango settlement. It is believed that the first Lango forefathers settled here where the rock stands today. Later visit Aboke girls, a school ransacked by rebel Kony, Barlonyo site and later the Lango cultural centre. Stay at Kanberra Hotel
Day 4
Murchison Falls
Day 4 to 5: Murchison Falls National Park After Breakfast drive to Murchison falls National Park via the top of the falls a scenic point where you will see the Nile force its way through a narrow gap to start its continued flow into Lake Albert. Sir Samuel Baker named the Falls after Sir Roderick Murchison, President of the Royal Geographical Society. The falls lend their name to the surrounding Murchison Falls National Park. One
Day 5
day 5, go for an early game drive to catch up with the retiring predators and also see other animals like the elephants, giraffes, lions. In the afternoon enjoy a boat ride to the bottom of the falls. Stay at Pakuba safari lodge
Day 6
Day 6: Boomu Women group Today is community day. Visit Boomu Women’s group near the Murchison falls National Park to have a true experience of an African village. Participate in cooking the day’s lunch from garden to lunch table. These subsistence farmers had little produce left over to sell, so in 1999 the women ́s group was formed, with the aim of reducing poverty and malnutrition, and providing an income for the members to be able to pay their children ́s school fees. Day 7
Day 7: Royal mile, Budongo Forest Today visit the Royal mile in Budongo ecotourism forest. This forest mile was an escape route for King Kabalega of Bunyoro. It was his famous hunting ground. Today it is a popular place for birding and nature walk. An avid birder will enjoy the experience. Today after your Budongo nature experience, travel to Kampala.
Day 8
Day 8: Travel to Entebbe Today you travel back home with travel memories for family and friends.
