Day 1
Day 1; 8th Aug 2013: Arrival and Airport transfer. Upon arrival Entebbe Airport very early morning aboard Turkish Airline, you will be welcomed by your driver from Asyanut Tours and transferred to your accommodation. Overnight at African roots Gest house.
Day 2
Day 2; 9th Aug 2013: Entebbe – Sipi falls via Jinja Early morning, we depart Entebbe for Mbale via Jinja town the source of the Nile, where we will have a chance to enjoy a boat ride to Speke monument, where John Speke discovered the source of the Nile. Enjoy Lunch and then transfer to Mbale town for your overnight at the back slope of Mount Elgon. Accommodation and meals at Crow’s Nest.
Day 3
Day 3; 10th Aug 2013: Sipi Falls/Mount Elgon: After a warm up breakfast, you will enjoy a hike to Sipi Falls. It is a beautiful walk to the bottom of the famous waterfall, and proceed on a steep climb to a series of caves. Return to town for lunch. Afternoon vist to Sipi falls village nestled between mountains and waterfalls. This area is full of rich heritage and fascinating culture. Accommodation and meals at Crow’s Nest...B&B
Day 4
Day 4; 11th Aug 2013: Sipi Falls – Soroti After breakfast we will transfer northwards to Soroti. It is a long but beautiful drive as we pass different types of landscapes and traditional villages. We will have a Stopover at Nyero Rock Paintings the finest of several rock art sites in the Teso region and lunch in Kumi town. Proceed to Soroti town arriving late afternoon. Spend your evening at leisure. Accommodation and meals at Eneku Village B.B
Day 5
Kidepo Valley
Day 5; 12th Aug 2013: Soroti – Kidepo Valley National Park After your morning breakfast, we will continue towards the border with Sudan and enter Kidepo Valley National Park. Stunning views over the vast plains, inselbergs, see Karimojong a pastrolist tribe and go for an afternoon game drive. Overnight at Nga moru wilderness camp.
Day 6
Kidepo Valley
Day 6; 13th Aug 2013: Kidepo Valley National Park Early morning game drive via the Narus River Valley in search of giraffes, ostriches, zebras, elephants and lions. In the afternoon shall visit the Pokoti local community (a Karamajong village) and if time permits we can have a cultural dance. Return to your lodge for your Overnight at Nga moru wilderness camp FB.
Day 7
Kidepo Valley | Murchison Falls
Day 7; 14th Aug 2013: Kidepo Valley National Park – Murchison Falls National Park Today we head south to Murchison Falls National Park. We will enter the park from the north and with a game drive continue south towards the famous river Nile. Look out for buffaloes, hartebeests, Uganda Kobs and elephants while we pass the savannah dotted with Borassus palm trees. Accommodation and meals at Pakuba Lodge. FB
Day 8
Murchison Falls
Day 8: 15th Aug 2013: Murchison Falls National Park After an early breakfast we start the day with a game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, with chances of seeing giraffes, elephants, lions, hartebeest and different species of birds. In the afternoon we will go for launch trip on Victoria Nile for game viewing within close distance. Upon reaching the bottom of the waterfalls we will go off the boat and hike our way up to the Top of the Falls where you will be rewarded with amazing views of the Nile. Overnight Pakuba Lodge FB
Day 9
Kibale | Murchison Falls
Day 9; 16th Aug 2013: Murchison Falls – Kibale We depart Murchison Falls and head towards Fort Portal town. This will be a half day drive for over 250km and drive time of 4-5 hours depending on the traffic. You will arrive Kibale a bit tired, so will just relax in your lodge for evening and overnight. Day 10
Kibale
Day 10; 17th Aug 2013: Kibale This day will see you wake up to breakfast and transfer to Bigodi community swamp for a nature walk, later visit local community tourism activities in the area before heading for Lunch. Transfer to the park offices in preparation for Chimpanzee tracking. Chimpanzees are shy primates and will be jumping from tree to tree as you move tracking them. Retire to your lodge for overnight at Chimps Nest lodge B&B
Day 11
Kibale
Day 11; 18th Aug 2013: Kibale -- Fortpotal After our breakfast, we travel to Fort Portal and here you will have a chance to visit the local Kings Palace of Toro Kingdom, community market, and the famous hot springs of Sempaya and Amabere ganyinamwiru. Transfer to your hotel for you overnight at Rwenzori Travellers Inn
Day 12
Queen Elizabeth
Day 12; 19th Aug 2013: Fortpotal –Queen Elizabeth Take a warm up breakfast; transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for either a visit to the salty lake and salt mining activities and also have a chance to see the Flamingo birds or visit the imaramagambo forest. The forest has seven different primate species which you may spot during your guided nature walk among which are Chimpanzees, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, L’Hoest’s Monkeys, Baboons, Red Tailed Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, as well as the Vervet Monkeys. The forest is in addition habitat to 2 nocturnal species which are: the Pottos plus the Bushbabies. Return to your lodge for overnight at Simba safari lodge. B&B
Day 13
Queen Elizabeth
Day 13; 20th Aug 2013: Queen Elizabeth National Park Wake up to breakfast and transfer to the park for your morning game drive to see lots of wild and also visit the crater lakes area. Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of most visited protected areas in Uganda and was certified for excellence. Return to the lodge for lunch, enjoy a boat cruise to Kazinga channel to see lots of hippos and birds. Retire to your lodge for overnight at Simba Safari lodge B&B
Day 14
Queen Elizabeth | Virunga | Volcanoes
Day 14: 21st Aug 2013: Queen Elizabeth – Ruhija (Eastern part of Bwindi NP) Today we will depart the beautiful area of Queen Elizabeth and drive to the southwest. Bwindi is one of the most biologically diverse areas on Earth, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The park protects a remnant of a once-vast primeval forest that stretched form the Virunga Volcanoes to the Rwenzori Mountains. Accommodation and meals at Ruhija Gorilla Lodge standard rooms. BB.
Day 15
Day 15: Gorilla Tracking This day makes the high light of our safari, you will track mountain gorillas. After breakfast, transfer to the park office for a brief on the Dos and Don’ts in contact with Gorillas and get a group and a guide assigned then enter the forest passing through dense trees and shrubs(impenetrable forest). The walk may be between 3-6 hours and rugged/slippery terrain but an encounter with gorillas will be a reward worth an effort. Overnight at Ruhija Gorilla Lodge standard rooms....B&B
Day 16
Day 16: Bwindi – Lake Bunyonyi This morning, we drive to Lake Bunyonyi through arguably one of the most picturesque scenery in Africa, Lake Bunyonyi, the second deepest lake in Africa and also lava damned lake isahometomanybirdswhichitgotthenamefrom. Relax,takeaswimoneofthefewlakesin the region that is rumoured to be free of bilharzia while you watch the beautiful sunset or go for a canoe trip and hike in the islands “Akampene “ which means Punishment Island. Day 17
Day 17 Lake Bunyonyi – Entebbe We depart Lake Bunyonyi for Kampala. This is a long drive passing through banana plantations. This safari will allow us a lunch break in Mbarara town and an enroute stopover at the equator, where you will get a chance to in two hemispheres. Proceed to Entebbe for your last minute shopping overnight at African roots Gest house. B&B
