Day 2

Kruger

Day 2 After an early breakfast, we will travel from Johannesburg to Kruger National Park. It is a 600km drive to Kruger and we will take you along one of the most beautiful scenic routes in South Africa, The Panorama Route. Enjoying the scenery at many places of interest, including The Blyde River Canyon (the biggest green canyon in the world). Kruger is South Africa`s premiere national park and is home to all the flagship species of animals found in Africa as well as the endangered animals the park strives to protect. It is an hour drive from the gate to Satara Rest camp, along the way you will get your first introduction to the wildlife in Kruger. Satara is the predator capital of the park and offers the best opportunities to see the big cats, lion, leopard and cheetah, in their natural environment. We will spend 2 nights in Satara. You will be sleeping in traditional thatched African huts. The huts or Rondavels have electricity, two single beds, a shower, toilet and air conditioning.

Day 3

Day 3 Early this morning, just before sunrise, we will take you on a morning safari in the Satara area. This is the best time of the day for wildlife sightings. The animals are more active in the cooler early mornings and late afternoons. Hopefully this morning we will find one of the many prides of lions that have territories in the Satara area. We will return to camp for breakfast and then it is time for you to relax and enjoy the camp life and facilities. There are electric fences around the camps for safety but you are able to walk along the fence and if you are lucky spot some animals on the other side. There is also a big swimming pool for you to cool off in the heat of the day. We will have lunch at camp and then go out for an afternoon safari. We will follow the rivers and enjoy some sightings of animals as they come for a drink. The area is great for gazing animals such as wildebeest and zebra. This evening we will serve dinner around the fire at camp. Day4 This morning we will leave Satara and travel south to the next camp, Berg en Dal. It will be a long day and we will be driving through some exciting areas. There will be great chances to find elephant, buffalo and rhino today. We will stop at Skukuza on route, this is the main camp in the park. You will have some time to relax and enjoy the river views on offer at the camp. Lunch will be an own expense meal after which we will continue south. Taking a slow drive and allowing you ample time to enjoy any wildlife sightings along the way. Arriving at camp in the late afternoon, you will have some time to rest and relax before we serve dinner. Tonight you will go out in an open safari vehicle on a sunset/night drive, armed with powerful spotlights. If you are lucky you will spot some of the nocturnal animals that inhabit the park like, civet, genet and porcupine. You will spend the next 2 nights in bungalows with electricity, AC, two single beds, a small kitchen and en suite bathroom.

Day 5

Kruger

Day 5 Early this morning, after a quick cup of coffee, we will take you on a safari drive in the area. It is a great place to find leopard and we will be searching the trees and bushes to find one of the spotted beauties for you to photograph. We will return to camp for breakfast and then you will have some time to relax and enjoy the camp facilities. There is a wonderful trail inside the camp where you can enjoy the birdlife and views of the wild bush and animals through the fence. The camp also has a swimming pool, a shop and an outdoor theater that shows documentaries in the evening if the weather allows for it. This afternoon we will take you for one last safari in Kruger to find any animals on your wish list that we might not have seen yet. Tonight we will serve dinner at the camp.

Day 6

Kruger

Day 6 This morning we will leave Kruger and travel to the next National Park, Hluhluwe. It is a long day on the road with a 550km drive. We will stop on route for an own expense lunch at a local take away. The drive is very scenic at times and you will enjoy driving through the traditional farmlands in the Pongola region. We will arrive at the gate to Hluhluwe in the late afternoon, at the gate there is a traditional African Crafts market where you can do some souvenir shopping. We will then take a slow drive up the rolling hills to the rest camp, Hilltop camp. Hluhluwe is a stunning park with great scenery. The park is most famous for rhinoceros conservation and we hope to find some of these gentle giants this afternoon. You will be spending the next 2 nights in traditional thatched African huts. They have two single beds, a fridge, ceiling fan, electricity and a small basin. Ablutions are shared. Tonight we will serve dinner at the camp.

Day 7

Day 7 Early this morning we will take you on a safari drive through the park. We hope to find the pride of lions that rule the area as well as some good elephant, rhino and buffalo sightings. We will enjoy breakfast at a picnic site in the park. When we return to camp it is time for you to relax and enjoy the camp facilities. There is a swimming pool, a very enjoyable forest hiking trail and viewing area with endless views of the rolling hills of Hluhluwe. After lunch we will take you for an afternoon drive in the bottom of the Hluhluwe valley. This is the area where the African Wild dogs are often seen. We will return to camp just after sunset and enjoy the last night in a National Park. We will serve dinner at the camp.

Day 8

Day 8 This morning we will take you for one last safari drive on the way to exit the park. We will cross into the Imfolozi section of the park. We will then drive close to the Indian Ocean in a southerly direction towards Durban. We will arrive in Umhlanga in time for an own expense lunch at a local restaurant. Umhlanga is the resort area of the Durban coast. The water in the ocean is warm all year round and there is a fantastic promenade to walk along the beach for miles. There are loads of restaurants, shops and cocktail bars all within walking distance from the chalet. After lunch we will move into a beach chalet just meters from the warm Indian Ocean. The chalet offers stunning beach views from the balcony. It has a bedroom with a double bed for you and an ensuite bathroom. The chalet also has a dining area, kitchen and t.v. room. This afternoon you will have time to soak up the sun and enjoy the beach. This evening we will go out to a local restaurant for dinner.

Day 9

Day 9 Today we will take you to visit Durban and some of the highlights of the city. The first stop will be at the Moses Mahbida stadium. Here we will catch a funicular to the top of the stadium arch, this is where the best views of the city and the beaches can be found. Next we will drive the golden mile, Durbans famous beachfront, to uShaka Marine world. The uShaka is the world famous sea world and entertainment area. Here you can enjoy some time at the beach. You can also visit the aquarium that houses many fish that can be found in the Indian Ocean. You will also have time to enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants found at uShaka. After uShaka we will take you on a drive through the city and back to the chalet in Umhlanga. Tonight we will enjoy dinner at another local restaurant.

Day 10

Day 10 Today is our last day and we will transfer you to King Shaka International Airport. You have the option of flying home today or you could fly to Cape Town for a few days to relax on your own before returning home. We are happy to advise and give tips for the west coast if you choose to spend a few days that side as well.
