Itinerary

Day 1

Kruger

Day 1 Today you will be met at O.R. Tambo International Airport by your Wild Planet Safari guide. You will then be driven north 600km to the gate to Kruger. The drive will take about 7 hours and you will stop for an own expense lunch on route. You will arrive at Kruger in the late afternoon and you will then have some time to relax, settle in and enjoy the sunset before dinner is served.

Day 2

Kruger

Day 2 Early this morning we will take you out on your first safari drive in Kruger National Park. The area around Letaba is very good for finding many different species of animals. We will follow the river routes that provide good cover and food for the animals to spend the day. After returning back to camp for lunch you will have some time in the middle of the day to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Letaba river. We will depart in that afternoon on another great safari drive.

Day 3

Kruger

Day 3 This morning we will go for a morning drive, we will return in time for breakfast after which we say goodbye to Letaba and head further south to our next camp, Satara. It is a 67 km drive to Satara which takes us through some excellent game viewing territory. This camp is situated in the heart of lion territory and also offers great opportunity to find wild dog. The camp facilities include a well-stocked shop, a view of a waterhole and a swimming pool. We will have lunch at camp and some time to relax. This evening you will go on a Kruger night drive which might give you a chance of seeing some of the big cats on the hunt, you could also see some of the smaller nocturnal animals like civet cats, owls, porcupines and genet. Dinner is for own expense at the camp restaurant tonight.

Day 4

Kruger

Day 4 We start the day with a game drive along the N’wanetsi river road. The drive takes us along the river with dense vegetation on one side (great for leopard) and open plains on the other (good for cheetah) and is well known for lion sightings. The area is also very good for spotting white rhino and has large herds of buffalo, blue wildebeest, zebra, kudu and giraffe. We will have breakfast at the picnic site where there’s a lookout over the Sweni River gorge. We then travel through an area known to be home to one of Kruger’s super prides, an enormous pride of 20 lions and then back to camp. Lunch at the camp at the middle of the day is own expense and then some time for you to relax and make use of the camp facilities. In the afternoon we will travel the Sweni road in search for more lions and if we are lucky wild dog. Dinner will be made when we return and we will fall asleep tonight to the sounds of the roaring lions.

Day 5

Kruger

Day 5 This morning you will go on an exciting guided bush walk, a trained field guide will take you out into the bush where he will show you how to track rhino, elephant and lion on foot. Hopefully you will find the lions that roared all night. When you return we will have a full breakfast and then depart for our next camp, Skukuza. It is 92 km to Skukuza, which is the main camp in Kruger National Park. The Camp facilities include a library, laundry, many lookout points on the Sabie River, Swimming pool and a shop filled with crafts and curios. Lunch when we arrive and then it is time for you to enjoy yourself at Skukuza. There is a museum and a gallery of photos for you to see and then there is shopping to be done. We will go on a late afternoon drive along the Sabie River where we can see many Hippos’, and crocodiles. Then we head off on a loop, which will offer the best chance to see wild dogs. We will have dinner when we return and enjoy our surroundingd as the camp fire cracks.

Day 6

Kruger

Day 6 We have a more relaxed start today with breakfast at camp before we head out for the day. We will take a picnic lunch and head off to explore the south of Kruger. We will travel towards Lower Sabie which is teeming with game, searching for any animals that may still be missing from our list. The area is great for elephants and lion. We will have lunch at Mlondozi picnic site which overlooks a dam where we could see some hippo and elephant. After lunch we take a slow scenic drive back towards camp and we will prepare dinner for you on the open fire that night.

Day 7

Day 7 Today we will head further south towards ou next camp, Berg en Dal, if we are lucky we may encounter some lions as they find a shady place to rest for the day. When we arrive at camp you will have lunch, check in, relax and explore the camp. Go for a swim or visit the craft shop to stock up on your last minute gift shopping. We will leave the camp later this afternoon to go for a gamedrive and explore this area. We will visit all the waterholes that are excellent places to find animals in search of water. When we return we will enjoy another great African meal prepared especially for you.

Day 8

Kruger

Day 8 Today will be your last day in Kruger, by now your list of dream animals will be very short and we will try and find your favourites one more time for you to enjoy. This day will be spent in a much more relaxed manner. You have freedom to decide how you would like to spend it, be it another drive, go for a bush walk or just relax and digest the past days and all the encounters we witnessed, we will be there to accommodate you all the way.

Day 9

Day 9 The drive back is about 5-6 hours and we will only be back in Johannesburg around 5 in the afternoon. If you have a night-flight out this evening, we will take you to Wild Planet Safari HQ so you can have a shower and freshen up before your flight.
