Itinerary
Day 1
Kruger
Day 1 Today you will be met at O.R. Tambo International Airport by your Wild Planet Safari guide. You will then be driven north 600km to the gate to Kruger. The drive will take about 7 hours and you will stop for an own expense lunch on route. We will arrive at Kruger in the late afternoon and you will then have some time to relax, settle in and enjoy the African sunset before dinner is served.
Day 2
Limpopo
Day 2 We start before sunrise today as this allows us the best opportunities to find animals and the best light for photography. A quick coffee and we are off heading further to the north. This route takes us through fairly open country where we may find big herds of buffalo and elephant. We stop for breakfast at Pafuri picnic site and then proceed further to Crooks Corner, the meeting point of the Luvuvhu and Limpopo rivers. Here there is a great view over the floodplain, and is the point where South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique meet. We then head slowly back to camp stopping at the many waterholes along the way checking for any animal activity. We will have lunch at the camp and have time to relax by the swimming pool or sit at a bird hide before going on a afternoon drive on the lookout for any predators on the move. We will have another traditional meal around the fire as we spend our last night in the far north.
Day 3
Kruger
Day 3 This morning we will depart on an early morning drive in the Punda area. We will return in time for breakfast after which we say goodbye to Punda Maria and head further south to our next camp, Shingwedzi. It's a 70 km drive and this area is known to be home to big herds of buffalo, elephant, waterbuck, impala and leopard. Shingwedzi is one of the quietest camps in Kruger and is located on the banks the river. Facilities here include Swimming pool, a laundry, a small shop and viewpoints along the river. When we arrive we will have lunch then you can cool down by the pool or have a "siesta" before we depart on another excellent game drive. This drive will take us along the Shigwedzi River past waterholes where spotted hyena like to rest, through very scenic landscape that is leopard habitat to 2 of the best lookout points in the park. If we are lucky we may see a leopard on the way back. Dinner will be back at camp.
Day 4
Kruger
Day 4 This morning we will go for one last morning drive in the northern section of Kruger. When we return we will have a full breakfast and then leave Shingwedzi to go to our next camp, Letaba. It is 109 km to Letaba through Mopane woodlands and shrubveld. Here we will find rolling granite plains where we can find large herds of wildebeest, zebra and elephant. Letaba camp has one of the best river views in the park and is home to the great Elephant Hall. A museum dedicated to the magnificent 7, other facilities include a laundry, a big shop with curios, swimming pool and excellent lookout points. We will have lunch when we arrive and then its time for you to relax and enjoy what Letaba has to offer. This afternoon we will take you on what is known as the leopard route, this road runs along the banks of the Letaba River and is great for game viewing, birding and as the name suggests leopard.
