Day 1: Umbwe Gate – Umbwe Cave Camp Altitude: 1,600 m – 2,850 m Trekking Time: 5–7 hours After breakfast, we drive from Moshi to Umbwe Gate. Umbwe Cave Camp – Barranco Camp

Altitude: 2,850 m – 3,960 m Trekking Time: 4–6 hours We continue climbing through the forest and heath vegetation toward the spectacular Umbwe Ridge. As we gain altitude, the landscape becomes more open and dramatic. We eventually reach Barranco Camp, situated beneath the impressive Barranco Wall.

Altitude: 3,960 m – 4,035 m Trekking Time: 4–5 hours After breakfast, we tackle the famous Barranco Wall. The climb is exciting and offers magnificent views of Kilimanjaro's surrounding landscape. We then cross several ridges and valleys before reaching Karanga Camp, where we have dinner and rest.

Acclimatization Day at Karanga Camp Today is dedicated to acclimatization. We take a short hike to a higher elevation before returning to camp. This allows your body to adjust to the altitude while giving you time to rest and prepare for the summit.

Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

Altitude: 4,035 m – 4,673 m Trekking Time: 4–5 hours We continue toward Barafu Camp, passing through the alpine desert zone. Upon arrival, we have an early dinner and rest. Our guides will prepare you for the summit attempt, which begins around midnight.

Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp Altitude: 4,673 m – 5,895 m – 3,100 m Trekking Time: 12–15 hours Around midnight, we begin our final ascent by torchlight. We climb slowly toward Stella Point and then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. At the summit, enjoy breathtaking views and celebrate your achievement before beginning the long descent. We return to Barafu for a short rest and refreshments before continuing down to Mweka Camp for the night.

Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi
Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi Altitude: 3,100 m – 1,640 m Trekking Time: 3–4 hours After breakfast, we begin our descent through the beautiful rainforest to Mweka Gate. After completing the park formalities, our vehicle will meet you and transfer you back to Moshi, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro adventure with Mkalibala Adventures.
