Day 2:To Samburu National Park Today, fly to Samburu National Park, which is situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in the dry northern reaches of Kenya. In this semi-arid setting, see Kenya's "northern Big Five": beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Grevy's zebra and Somali ostrich. Sightings of large herds of elephant and crocodile are common along the meandering Ewaso Nyiro River. Day 5:To Masai Mara Game Reserve After breakfast this morning, depart Samburu and fly to the Masai Mara with its striking landscapes of wide plains interlaced with seasonal rivers, all nestled under the huge skies of East Africa. Day 8:Depart Nairobi Today, fly to Nairobi. Freshen up in your day room, and then discover some of Nairobi's highlights. Get up close and personal with magnificent giraffe at the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife's Giraffe Center. Learn about the important conservation work being done by the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant and Rhino Orphanage, which helps the country's endangered elephant and rhino populations as they face the problems of poaching and habitat loss due to deforestation and drought. You may also browse the handicrafts and art at the Maasai market.
