Itinerary

Day 1: Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa

Kilimanjaro

Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with a morning transfer from Moshi or Arusha to Londorossi Gate on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. After completing park registration and entry formalities, you will continue by vehicle toward the Lemosho trailhead. The trek begins in the beautiful montane rainforest, where you will walk through dense vegetation accompanied by the sounds of birds and nature.

Mti Mkubwa Camp

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 1 Ca

Kilimanjaro

After breakfast, you will leave the rainforest behind and continue climbing toward the Shira Plateau. The vegetation gradually changes from dense forest to moorland, with giant heather and other high-altitude plants becoming more prominent. As you gain elevation, the landscape opens up and you will begin to enjoy spectacular views across the surrounding valleys and toward Kibo Peak.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp

Today you will explore the spectacular Shira Plateau while continuing your acclimatization. After breakfast, you will trek across the plateau through open moorland and volcanic landscapes, with impressive views of Kibo Peak. Depending on weather and trail conditions, the route continues toward Shira 2 and then toward the Moir Hut area, providing an opportunity to gain additional altitude before descending slightly to camp.

Day 4: Moir Hut – Lava Tower – Barr

After breakfast, you will continue toward Lava Tower, reaching approximately 4,630 meters above sea level. The landscape becomes increasingly rocky and barren as you enter the alpine desert zone. You will have time to rest and enjoy lunch near Lava Tower before beginning the descent toward Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” approach is an important part of acclimatization and helps your body adjust to the altitude.

Day 5: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

Kilimanjaro

After breakfast, you will begin the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall. With assistance from your experienced guides, you will carefully navigate the rocky sections of the wall and enjoy spectacular views from the top. The trail then continues through Karanga Valley before ascending toward Barafu Camp, the final high camp before your summit attempt. The surroundings become increasingly barren as you enter the alpine desert zone.

Day 6: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – M

Kilimanjaro

Your final day is the most challenging and rewarding part of the adventure. You will wake around midnight, have a light breakfast, and begin your summit ascent in darkness. The climb toward Stella Point is slow and steady, taking you over steep volcanic scree as you gradually gain altitude. After several hours, you will reach Stella Point at approximately 5,739 meters. From there, you continue along the crater rim toward Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters.
