Itinerary

Day 1: Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut

Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with a transfer from your hotel in Moshi to Marangu Gate. After registration and completion of park formalities, you start trekking through the lush rainforest. The trail is surrounded by tropical vegetation, birds, and sometimes monkeys. After several hours of hiking, you arrive at Mandara Hut, where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut

After breakfast, you continue your climb through the rainforest before entering the beautiful moorland zone. The vegetation gradually changes as you gain altitude, with giant heathers and impressive mountain scenery. On a clear day, you may enjoy views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. You arrive at Horombo Hut in the afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut

Kilimanjaro

After breakfast, you leave Horombo and continue toward Kibo. The landscape becomes more open as you cross the alpine desert known as the Saddle, located between Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. This section is slower and more demanding as the altitude increases. You arrive at Kibo Hut in the afternoon, where you will rest, have dinner, and prepare for the summit attempt.

Day 4: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak – Horo

Kilimanjaro

This is the most challenging and rewarding day of your climb. You wake around midnight and begin the summit ascent in darkness. The trail leads through rocky terrain toward Gilman's Point on the crater rim. After reaching the rim, you continue along the crater edge toward Stella Point and then onward to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 m.

Day 5: Horombo Hut – Mandara Hut

Kilimanjaro

After breakfast, you begin your descent through the moorland and rainforest zones. The descent is generally easier, allowing you to enjoy the changing scenery and reflect on your summit achievement. You arrive at Mandara Hut in the afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Mandara Hut – Marangu Gate –

After breakfast, you start the final descent through the beautiful rainforest to Marangu Gate. Once you reach the gate, you complete the park registration and receive your summit certificates if you successfully reached the summit. Your driver will then transfer you back to Moshi for a well-deserved rest and celebration.
