Safari summary

The Southern Serengeti comes alive between late December and early March in a way that defies imagination. Thousands of wildebeest flood the mineral-rich plains of Ndutu to give birth a breathtaking spectacle where new life and raw nature collide daily.

Predators gather. The plains pulse with energy. And in the middle of it all, you.

This is the Calving Season one of the most extraordinary chapters of the Great Migration, and one of Africa's most humbling wildlife experiences. Seasonal. Fleeting. Utterly unforgettable.

Itinerary

Pick up from the airport

We meet you at the Airport and transfer you to the beautiful Tulia Boutique Hotel & Spa in Arusha. Before you settle in, we take you on a city tour — wandering through vibrant local markets, the colourful Maasai market, the Cultural Heritage Centre, and Arusha City Museum. Your first taste of Tanzania's warm spirit before the wild takes over.

Southern Serengeti (Ndutu)

Serengeti

Packed lunch in hand, we leave Arusha behind and head south 260km through the sweeping landscapes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards Ndutu. Five and a half hours later, the plains open up and the magic begins. Over two million wildebeest and zebras gather here during the calving season, while six big cat species and predators of every kind patrol the waterholes. Welcome to the heart of the Great Migration.

Southern Serengeti (Ndutu)

Serengeti

After breakfast, we head out for a morning game drive across the Ndutu plains picnic lunch in the bush included. Then we turn towards the Ngorongoro Crater rim, a 75km drive through ever-changing landscapes. As the crater comes into view for the first time, the scale of it stops you in your tracks. Dinner at the rim as the African night settles in.

The alarm goes early — and it's worth every second. By 6:30am you're descending into the Ngorongoro Crater, 260 square kilometres of ancient caldera teeming with elephants, rhinos, lions, hippos, cheetahs and buffalo. A picnic lunch at the famous Hippo Pool, one final look across this breathtaking landscape, then we ascend and make our way back to Arusha. The perfect end to an unforgettable safari.
