Itinerary
Day 1
Upon arrival in Kigali, meet your guide and transfer to Musanze, a scenic 2 to 3 hour drive through Rwanda’s beautiful rolling countryside and terraced hills. In the afternoon, enjoy a vibrant cultural welcome featuring traditional dance and music performances by local artists, offering an introduction to Rwanda’s rich heritage and supporting community performers.

After breakfast, visit local farms for an interactive sustainable agriculture experience. Participate in organic farming activities alongside community members, including crop planting and harvesting using environmentally friendly practices. In the afternoon, take part in a tree-planting initiative focused on restoring native ecosystems, preventing soil erosion, and promoting long-term environmental conservation.

Day 3
After breakfast, join a guided medicinal plant and beekeeping tour to learn how local communities sustainably utilize natural resources while coexisting harmoniously with forests and wildlife. Later, participate in arts and crafts workshops led by local women’s groups, where you will learn traditional basket weaving and pottery techniques. In the afternoon, experience a traditional banana beer brewing session and cooking lesson with community members using authentic local methods.

Day 4
After breakfast, depart to visit compellingly twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, surrounded by the breathtaking Virunga Volcanoes. Explore island communities and gain insight into local lakeside livelihoods and traditions. Thereafter, continue your journey along the scenic shores of Lake Kivu to Karongi. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and relax.

After breakfast, take a boat excursion to Napoleon Island on Lake Kivu. Continue with a unique cultural experience observing the famous “swimming cows,” where local pastoralists guide their cattle between nearby islands. In the afternoon, visit a local coffee processing station to learn about Rwanda’s renowned coffee industry, from harvesting to processing and community trade practices.

After breakfast, drive to Akagera via Kigali. En route, visit a traditional Imigongo art center and participate in a hands-on workshop demonstrating the techniques behind Rwanda’s distinctive geometric artwork. Proceed to Akagera for overnight.

After breakfast, immerse yourself in the pastoral culture and community conservation initiatives surrounding Akagera’s savannah ecosystems.
