Marangu (1870m)–Mandara (2720m)

After breakfast, drive from Moshi to Marangu Gate for registration and a trek briefing. Begin your climb through the lush rainforest, where you may spot blue monkeys, colobus monkeys, and a variety of bird species. Arrive at Mandara Hut for dinner and your overnight stay.

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut (3,720m

Leave the rainforest behind as you enter the moorland zone, enjoying spectacular views of Mawenzi Peak and Kibo. The trail gradually ascends across open landscapes filled with giant lobelias and groundsels before reaching Horombo Hut.

Acclimatization Day @ Horombo Hut

Spend the day acclimatizing to the altitude. Take a short hike toward Zebra Rocks (about 4,000 m) before returning to Horombo Hut for lunch and rest. This extra day greatly improves your chances of reaching the summit successfully.

Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut (4,700 m)

Today's trek crosses the alpine desert known as the Saddle, located between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. The landscape becomes increasingly barren as you approach Kibo Hut. After an early dinner, rest and prepare for your midnight summit attempt.

Kibo to Uhuru, Descend Horombo (

Begin your summit climb around midnight. Reach Gilman's Point before continuing along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement and enjoy sunrise views before descending to Kibo Hut for a short rest and then continuing to Horombo Hut for the night.
