Itinerary

Arusha to Lake Natron

Drive to Mto Wa Mbu and enter the Great Rift Valley, passing through the Engaruka Basin into a semi-desert area characterized by hot, wild, and dusty landscapes. Along the way, you will see the extinct volcanoes Kitumbene and Gelai off to the right, with the Mountain of God, Ol Doinyo Lengai, always in front. Around midday, we arrive at a camp on the banks of the Engaraseo River, a welcoming spot to shower or bathe in the river.

Enjoy activities in Lake Natron

you will visit Lake Natron: one of the most alkaline lakes in the world. Home to millions of tiny crustaceans, the lake is a haven for thousands of lesser flamingos. In the afternoon, you can take a long walk to the Ngare Sero River. After a strenuous walk up the stream, you will reach the source of the river, in cascading waterfalls the river gushes out of the mountains. You will enjoy a refreshing swim in the river and under the waterfalls for a nice cool-down from the hot sun.

Departure

Enjoy breakfast at the camp and check out. Drive to Arusha. On our return journey, we will have ample time to stop and purchase some of the renowned Makonde carvings, for which Tanzania is famous. Additionally, for those interested, there will be an opportunity to visit the Mesarani Snake Park to observe the snakes, which are usually difficult to see in the wild due to their natural shyness. After your memorable tour, you will be transferred to the Arusha Airport (ARK)/Kilimanjaro
