Arrival and flight to Nyerere

Nyerere (Selous)

Your safari starts with your arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam. You'll board a connecting flight to Nyerere National Park, formerly Selous Game Reserve. Upon landing, our Nature Quest Safaris safari guide will meet you for your first game drive on the way to your camp . The afternoon is for settling in and an introductory game drive, with sundowners and dinner at the camp in the evening.

Nyerere (Selous)

This day is dedicated to Nyerere's diverse activities. In the morning, you can choose a game drive to seek out elephants, lions, giraffes, and more. The afternoon features a highly recommended boat safari on the Rufiji River, offering close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, and prolific birdlife. A walking safari is another option for experiencing the bush on foot with an armed guide.

Nyerere (Selous)

After an early breakfast, enjoy a final game drive or walking safari before heading to an area of the park for a guided viewing of the impressive Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP) located at Stiegler's Gorge on the Rufiji River. In the afternoon, you'll be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Ruaha National Park, where a local guide will meet you for a game drive en route to your camp. The evening ends with a final game drive before settling in.

Today is for a full-day game drive in Tanzania's largest national park, celebrated for its vast landscapes, immense elephant population, and significant lion population. The drive will take you through stunning baobab forests and along the Great Ruaha River, where wildlife congregates, especially in the dry season. Look out for leopards and the famous Ruaha lions, with a picnic lunch enjoyed in the heart of the park.

Enjoy a bush lunch or sundowners on the plains to cap off the day.

Enjoy one last bush breakfast before a short farewell game drive on your way to the airstrip. This final drive offers a last chance to spot any wildlife you may have missed. You will then board your flight back to Dar es Salaam, where a transfer will be arranged to Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) for your international departure.
