Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Your adventure begins with registration at Londorossi Gate, where you meet our trekking guide and mountain crew. The trek starts through a lush rainforest alive with birds and monkeys, including the black-and-white colobus. The trail ascends gently until you reach Mti Mkubwa Camp, where dinner and a cozy first night on the mountain await.

Mti Mkubwa to Shira 2 Camp

After breakfast, you leave the forest behind and climb into the moorland zone. The views open up dramatically, offering glimpses of Kilimanjaro’s peaks and expansive valleys. You will trek across Shira Ridge and descend slightly onto the plateau before reaching Shira 2 Camp. A magical sunset and views of Kibo Peak crown the day.

Shira 2 to Moir Hut

Today’s hike takes you deeper across the Shira Plateau, with its volcanic rocks and alpine desert scenery. As you approach Moir Hut, the remote setting offers tranquility far from the busier trails. In the afternoon, your guide may lead a short acclimatization hike to higher ground before you return to camp for dinner and rest.

Today you head southeast through the high alpine desert, making your way toward School Hut, the final base before the summit. The air grows thinner, and the landscapes become stark but beautiful. Once at camp, you’ll have an early dinner and settle down to rest, preparing for the midnight summit push.

Summit Day & Descent to Mweka Camp

Your summit attempt begins just after midnight. Equipped with headlamps and determination, you climb steadily toward Uhuru Peak, reaching the Roof of Africa in time for sunrise. The reward is breathtaking – panoramic views over glaciers, plains, and distant peaks. After photos and celebrations, descend carefully back down through Barafu and Millennium areas to Mweka Camp for a well-earned night’s rest.

Descent to Mweka Gate & Departure

After breakfast, trek down through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you will sign out and receive your summit certificate. Your driver will transfer you back to Arusha or Moshi for a hot shower, rest, and relaxation at your hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, you can either depart the same day or enjoy an overnight stay before onward travel.
