Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Kilimanjaro
Arusha to Mandara Hut: We depart Arusha for Marangu Gate, completing formalities before trekking through lush forest. Hike for 4-5 hours, spotting blue colobus monkeys and diverse birds. Overnight at Mandara Hut with solar lighting and flush latrines. Enjoy views from Maundi Crater. Our guide, John, will share Kilimanjaro’s history and vegetation details. Mandara Hut to Horombo hut
You will wake up early today, as you have got a big day of trekking ahead of you! We begin our day through the forest until the trails open up to the start alpine zone. If the weather is clear you will get a glimpse of Kibo and Mawenzi-two of the three volcanic peaks that make up the summit of Kilimanjaro Mountain. . • At this point you may begin to feel the effects of the altitude. • Elevation: 2700m/8875ft to 3700m/12,200ft • Distance: 12km/7.5mi • Hiking Time: 5-6 hours

Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

It’s another big day of trekking, as you will make your path to Kibo hut and rest for the night ahead of your attempt to summit the roof of Africa. Climbing almost 4,130 meters you will arrive at Kibo Hut in the Evening. Make sure you drink a lot of water during dinner, as you will be up bright and early tomorrow to start your quest to the summit. Dinner, rest, and prepare for summit climb. • Elevation: 3700m/12,200ft to 4700m/15,500ft • Distance: 9km/5.5mi • Hiking Time: 5-6 hours
Kibo Hut
Kibo to Uhuru Peak

Just after midnight, our guides will wake you with tea and a light meal to prepare for your adventure. You’ll hike in darkness for 5-6 hours to reach Stella Point before sunrise. After a brief rest, continue for 2 more hours of challenging hiking to Uhuru Peak at 5895 meters, where you’ll witness a breathtaking sunrise and panoramic views. Congrats on reaching Africa's roof! The descent to Horombo Hut via Kibo Hut will be one of the longest, most exhausting days.

Today brings joy as you enjoy your last breakfast on the mountain before descending to Marangu Gate. The 19-kilometer walk down will be much easier than the climb. Upon arrival, celebrate with your guides, potters, and cook for their hard work, and consider offering tips. Afterward, collect your certificate of completion to commemorate your achievement. Your driver will then take you back to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi for a well-deserved rest after your incredible adventure on Kilimanjaro.
