Pick Up from the Airport

Arusha

On this day, you will be picked up from the airport either the Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport. You will then drive to Tulia Spa & Boutique Hotel. Once you arrive and settle in, your guide will brief you on the hike what to expect day by day as well as check if you have all the necessary gear for the hike.

Arusha to Mommela Gate

The tour begins after breakfast with a pickup to Ngongongare Gate, where your guide handles the paperwork. You'll drive through Arusha National Park, stopping for wildlife sightings. At Mommela Gate, there’s a final check of porters and luggage. Over the next three days, you'll trek Mount Meru at a slow pace, resembling a walking safari. Expect to see reticulated giraffes, zebras, and buffaloes, escorted by an armed ranger, aiming to reach Miriakamba Hut (2500m) before sunset.

After breakfast, you'll continue your Mt. Meru trek along a steep forest path. You'll reach Saddle Hut in the alpine desert zone for a hot lunch, depending on your pace. After lunch and some rest, you can opt for an acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m), offering great views of Great Meru and the surrounding area, preparing you for the night’s summit attempt. An early dinner will be served, allowing time to rest before your midnight ascent, with lights out around 7:00 PM.

You will wake up at 12:30 AM for a light meal before your final push to the summit of Africa's fifth highest mountain. On the last day of your 3day Mt. Meru trek, you'll ascend to Rhino Point (3,800 m) and Cobra Point (4350 m). Trekking along a rocky ridge between the Crater and Meru's inner cliffs, you'll reach the summit (4,566 m) at sunrise. Clear mornings offer views of Kilimanjaro. Drivers will take you back to Arusha or the airport, and summit achievers will receive a trekking certificate
