Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1: Arrive Johannesburg, South Africa Arrive in Johannesburg and transfer to your hotel. Tonight, enjoy an A&K Chef's Table welcome featuring a locally sourced dinner. A professional photographer joins you to offer tips for the days ahead.

Day 2

Okavango Delta

Day 2: Okavango Delta | Wetlands Wildlife Fly to Maun where you are met by your A&K Botswana Tour Director and transferred by light aircraft to a 260,000-acre private concession in the Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world. Find your classic-style tented camp under a canopy of ebony and sausage trees. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure with a choice of game viewing activities, such as a seasonal mokoro (dugout canoe) ride on the delta or a nighttime game viewing drive, made possible on this private concession.

Day 3

Okavango Delta

Day 3: Okavango Delta | Living With Elephants After breakfast, continue with your choice of activities. Set off on a thrilling, guided game drive in a customized 4x4 vehicle or a bush walk in the company of an armed, expert guide. Your private concession sprawls across an unspoiled landscape; be on the lookout for giraffes, hippos, lions and cheetahs. Afterward, picnic in the shade near the elephants. You may participate in a remarkable educational experience with a group of semi-habituated African elephants at an A&K Philanthropy sponsored project. Interact with the elephants up close and in their wild habitat, experiencing their unique personalities and exploring everything from their powerful trunks and tusks to their fanning ears and bristled tails.

Day 4

Moremi | Okavango Delta

Day 4: Moremi Game Reserve | Sanctuary Chief’s Camp Fly across the Okavango Delta to Sanctuary Chief's Camp, set deep in the Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve. Stay at one of the best camps in Botswana, with 12 secluded bush pavilions set along natural pathways that are frequented by the local wildlife. Widely acknowledged as the "predator capital of the world," Moremi offers some of the most exciting game viewing in Africa and is one of the best places in Botswana to see the country’s “Big Five” — the lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and Cape buffalo. This is primarily because the lush delta draws a fantastic concentration of wildlife. Predators include cheetahs, spotted hyenas and, at the very top of the food chain, a large resident pride of lions. White and black rhinos are also found here, the latter of which is among Africa’s fastest-disappearing species. This afternoon, take advantage of game viewing activities led by experienced driver/guides or enjoy the views from your own private viewing deck.

Day 5

Moremi | Okavango Delta

Day 5: Moremi Game Reserve | Remarkable Game Drives Depart for an early-morning game drive activity. As you have discovered by now, game viewing in the Okavango Delta is nothing short of spectacular. Beyond predators, the delta draws large concentrations of elephants, buffalo, red lechwes, giraffes and impalas. Enjoy a seasonal mokoro ride for a rare safari opportunity across deceptively quiet marshlands alive with crocodiles, bathing hippos, birds and tiny red reed frogs. If you opt for an afternoon game drive, listen for roaring lions on the hunt or spy nocturnal animals as they start out for the night. After a full day of game viewing, return to your camp to relax, dine and enjoy its facilities.

Day 6

Chobe

Day 6: Chobe National Park | Magnificent Watering Hole After breakfast, fly northeast to Chobe National Park, soaring over forests, floodplains and marshlands en route. Your exquisite lodge sits above the Chobe River, with expansive views across the islands and as far as Namibia. Bounding impalas and purposeful elephants — with a staggering concentration of some 120,000 in the park — may pass before your outdoor patio. Relax with a dip in the split-level swimming pool or book a treatment at the exceptional spa.

Day 7

Chobe

Day 7: Chobe National Park | Photographic Safari Cruise Set out on a game drive at sunrise to catch the animals at the start of their day. You may see hippos, crocodiles, leopards and even a colony of carmine bee eaters. In between safari activities, enjoy a Chef’s Table experience as you prepare and eat traditional fare alongside the resident chef. Later, embark on a photographic safari cruise aboard a double-decker boat with 360-degree swivel seats.

Day 8

Victoria Falls

Day 8: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe | Victoria Falls This morning, drive to Zimbabwe to visit awe-inspiring Victoria Falls. Imagine what David Livingstone, the first European to see the falls, must have thought on first sight of the crashing waters. Continue to Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma in Zambia, where you stay in a luxury tree house, built into the riverside canopy. At twilight, take a sundowner cruise, sipping cocktails against an African sky.

Day 9

Victoria Falls | Zambezi

Day 9: Livingstone, Zambia | Victoria Falls & Village Visit Begin the day with a guided walking tour of Victoria Falls from the Zambian side — a different perspective on an ever-impressive natural wonder. Get a closer view of the mighty Zambezi River, as it cascades over the edge of an impressive 1.2-mile wide basalt lip. Afterward, peruse stalls filled with local crafts and excellent wood carvings during a Market Visit. You may also visit Nakatindi Village and provide support for the community’s school and clinic, both operating with assistance from A&K Philanthropy.
