Safari summary

This safari is all about big game, good birds and lots of water. Your first stop is Leroo la Tau at the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, where thousands of zebra, wildebeest and other plains game congregate along the Boteti River, especially between November and May. Relax in the plunge pool, watch wildlife from the deck or go on a game drive to explore the park.

You’ll then fly to Xakanaxa camp on the banks of the Khwai River to spend time in Moremi Game Reserve, where land and delta meet in a series of grassland floodplains, waterways and pans. You’ll be able to look for the Big Five and a huge diversity of other species.

Your final stop is deeper in the Okavango Delta, where you can explore on foot or by traditional mokoro to see the delta from a different point of view.

Day 1

Makgadikgadi Pans

day 1 Welcome to Makgadikgadi Pans National Park When you arrive at Botswana's Kasane airport you'll be met and assisted with check-in for your flight to Maun. From Maun you'll be transferred by road to your lodge about 140 kilometres to the south-east. From the hide at the lodge you can enjoy the view over the Boteti River, where animals come to drink. Overnight at Leroo La Tau (which means 'lion's paw'), with meals, drinks and game activities included. Day 2

Makgadikgadi Pans

day 2 Zebra everywhere Take an early morning game drive to make the most of your position here on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, which has thousands of zebra and wildebeest – and, as a result, predators like lions cheetah, leopard and hyena too. You might even see a white rhinoceros. Take a siesta in the heat of the day and go out on another game drive late in the afternoon. Moremi | Okavango Delta

day 3 Moremi introduction in a mokoro From the Makgadikgadi you'll fly to the Moremi Game Reserve to spend two nights at Xakanaxa Camp on the banks of the Khwai River in the heart of the reserve. Day 4

Moremi | Okavango Delta

day 4 Extraordinary game viewing Relax at the lodge or join the morning and afternoon drives to explore the area. Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta has one of the richest and most diverse ecosystems in Africa, so it's no surprise that game viewing is excellent. Black and white rhino have been reintroduced so this is one of few places in Botswana where you can now see the Big Five, as well as cheetah, hyenas and the endangered wild dog. Okavango Delta

Day 6

Okavango Delta

day 6 Power boat through the Okavango Relax under the ebony and African mangosteen tree canopy at the lodge or join the morning and afternoon game activities. Explore the Delta by motorboat or traditional mokoro (dug-out canoe) in this area where there is permanent water, or take a leisurely nature walk on the surrounding islands in the concession. Day 7
