Arusha/Moshi - Momela-Miriakamba

Arusha

Momella Gate (1500m) to Miriakamba (2750m): Transfer to Momella Gate, register, and start your trek. Walk through the woodland, see a diversity of forest birds and mammals. Southern Route: 5 hours walk to Miriakamba hut. Pass through the Montane Forest with diverse features including Fig Tree Arch, Moivo Waterfalls, and different kinds of vegetation. Northern Route: 3-4 hours to Miriakamba hut. Shortest and steepest route. Stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Momella Lakes

Miriakamba Wooden Hut: Shared with other climbers

Miriakamba - Saddle Hut

Arusha

It takes 3-4 hours trekking from Miriakamba to Saddle Hut (3750m). Along the way you, on clear days, will enjoy the impressive view of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Momella Lakes, Meru Crater, Ash cone, Mt. Meru Cliff and Little Meru. Wild animals can be seen and altitudinal changes in vegetation become evident. While at this hut, the ascent to Little Meru can be done in the afternoon/evening. Dinner and overnight at Saddle hut.

Saddle Wooden Hut: Shared with other climbers

Saddle-Summit-Miriakamba

Arusha

Saddle Hut to Summit (4566m): It takes 5-6 hours from Saddle Hut to Summit. This is the place where visitors enjoy most of the features of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Little Meru (3801m), Meru Crater, Ash cone, Momella Lakes, Cliff face, Meru Peak, Ngorongoro Crater Highlands, Arusha Town, sunrise and sunset. The trek to summit starts at midnight. After reaching the summit at 4566m you will walk back to Saddle hut, eat something before trekking down to Miriakamba hut for dinner and overnight.

Miriakamba Wooden Hut: Shared with other climbers

Miriakamba-Momela gate-Arusha

After breakfast descend to Momella gate for transfer to Arusha Town. If you used the short route while ascending you may choose to descend through the long route or vice versa. This trek takes 2 to 3 hours for the short route and long route respectively from Miriakamba to the Momella gate.
